There was a difference between the amount I paid online for the room & the bill I was given while checking out. The only USP of the hotel is its proximity to Madras Medical Mission. The tariff for the Double Deluxe room was definitely on the higher side, keeping in mind the smallness of the room.
Had stayed here for a night. Amutha Residency is a basic budget hotel very good for budget travellers, when i visited the hotel building was under renovation This hotel is right opposite to the masjid. The receptionist guy is very friendly!
nothing special, its a clean lodge, family friendly. i think its worth the money, but if you are planning for a long stay i would say it wont be an ideal place. construction work going in the same building so a bit noisy. good accessibility as its in the middle of the city, staff is very helpful. if you are a thrifty budget family traveler this is good.
Me and my wife were travelling to Chennai to attend an interview and also to meet few friends. Since the interview was in Ambattur, we decided to stay close to that area. However, it was difficult to find a clean budget hotel in that area. It was by chance I came across Amutha Residency in one of the websites. Their website is also pretty good with all the necessary details. Reading reviews of various hotels in Chennai, we were apprehensive about the cleanliness and location of the hotel. However, all that changed once we reached Amutha Residency. We had booked an AC room for 2 days (Tariff - Rs. 1000 to Rs.1500 per day with 24hrs check-in) Since our train got delayed, we reached Perambur station (Closer to hotel than Chennai Central) at 10:30 PM and reached the hotel at 11:00 PM. The directions given by the reception was pretty good and we had not much trouble finding the hotel even at that part of night. The hotel is located on the second floor of a five storey building. The ground floor door was locked when we reached, however we were advised to call the reception if we got late. A wait of 5 minutes and the door was open and we were led to the reception. Check-in took just 5 minutes and we were shown to our room. The room was clean, even though the bed sheets and pillow covers were bit stained (acceptable by the budget standards). The room was pretty spacious and well laid out.The toilets were clean and there was no water disruption during our entire stay. Even though there is no attached restaurant, the room boy managed to get us dinner at 11:45 in the night. Overall our experience was pretty good considering that it was a clean place and the location was perfect for the purpose of our visit. Except that you have to pay to get TV remote and AC remote, rest everything was fine and in very good condition. But again, AC is set in Auto mode so its fine and TV, well who goes to a hotel to sit and watch TV and if needed we can always use the manual channel change. I would definitely recommend this place especially because of non availability of a decent place in that area at a reasonable rate.
I stayed at this hotel for 2 days in September 2013. I only chose this hotel because I had an exam nearby this place. The entrance to the hotel is not good and I was disappointed with the looks, but the room was tidy. The bathroom was not very clean. The AC and TV worked well. There is no restaurant so you will need to go out for food. There are good restaurants within a 5 min walking distance. Coffee/Tea and soft drinks will be provided at the hotel itself. There is bus stop outside the hotel so you don't have to walk too far. The room was very cheap (Rs.1000 + tax per day for AC room). So if you are on a tight budget, you can go for it.
