The JP Hotel Chennai was our first hotel on the southern half of our group tour of India. We had a late arrival, but the dinner hours extended until midnight which was great as our group was tired, but even more so hungry.
Wow, what a spread for the dinner buffet serving. Western specialties, so many Indian dishes, and a really impressive selection of desserts, pastries and ice cream. The beer prices were the among the most expensive during our touring. Breakfast was just as tempting with around eight varieties of fresh fruits, western and Indian dishes, fresh juices, pastries and more. The restaurant management and staff were very nice and they were on the ball with refilling the buffet, promptly removing used dishes and re-setting tables.
The rooms match any 4*+ property of western standards. The beds were comfortable along with nice linens, flat screen TV & remote, clothes closet, work desk, water cooker, coffee/tea packs, fridge, A/C, complimentary water, walk-in showers, excellent assortment of toiletries (bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, talc powder, shaver kit, toothbrush kit), numerous wall outlets, note pad, scented room fragrancer, and more. Their in-room services booklet should receive an award for listing all hotel services (bar & restaurant with prices included), pool, fitness center, banquet space, things to do in the area and much more. It was all encompassing.
During our very limited stay, I had brief contact with reception, housekeeping, fitness center, pool, doorman, driveway attendant, restaurant staff that I recall and everyone was friendly and professional.
A rooftop pool and deck, fitness center (fully staffed), bar, restaurants, lobby seating, parking, and more are other services the JP Hotel offered. Wi-Fi (up to three devices) worked very well in all areas of the hotel. Banquet space was also offered at the hotel. There were fun little stuffed animals at the lobby level glass elevators.
The only thing that comes to mind would be that hand/wash towels for bathroom sink would be appreciated, so one does not have to use the full bath towels just to dry off hands.
Of the others I spoke with in our group, everyone would have loved to have stayed here longer than just our one night.
The staff at the hotel, specially at the reception and the restaurant were extremely helpful and courteous. the room was clean and the hotel ambience was very relaxing, specially when travelling with elders of the family. Would definitely stay again if travelling to Chennai.
My friend fro m the middle East checked in there, the hotel folks harassed him in the middle of the night....He moved out..
