Jay Karthik from Chennai, India recommends this hotel Posted:  Room Quality: 4/5 Service Quality: 3/5 Dining Quality: 4/5 Cleanliness: 4/5

Rooms The rooms were largely ok except for the fact they were a bit small. I understand that they are of the standard size for a single or double occupancy. But we were totally 5 adults and 2 kids (11 years and 6 years). Each of the rooms had just two single beds. When I asked for extra bedding to be put in both rooms, I was told that one extra bed will be put in each room. However, I will be charged for one of them and only one is included in the booking. As the booking was for 5 adults, they agreed to provide only one extra bed without charge. When I questioned how do they expect kids aged 11 and 6 to sleep, the hotel staff were rather a little discourteous and said that is "not their problem". I got annoyed and had to express my disappointment to the hotel staff. They told me that travelguru did not inform them of the age of the children and the hotel is not bound to provide bedding for children (irrespective of their age). The hotel staff asked me to talk to travelguru to sort this out. I refused to do that and went to the room. Within the next 15 minutes, the hotel staff spoke to travelguru and got back to me saying travelguru has acknowledged that it was their mistake (not communicating the age of the children) and have asked the hotel to provide two complimentary single beds. The hotel staff also apologised for their behaviour. When the booking is for 3 adults in one room and 2 adults and 2 children (aged 11 and 6) in another room, I would have expected the hotel to allot reasonably bigger size rooms. These rooms were not CERTAINLY not ideal for 3 or 4 people and when you put one extra bed, there is hardly any space to move around. Service of staff The service or behaviour of the staff was pathetic initially. However, I should admit that they called back and apologised for their behaviour. The time taken for room service is quite long. We had to call twice or thrice to ask for the status. We were quite close to cancelling the room service order as we were running out of patience. They took 25 minutes to get two glasses of lassi. Location The hotel is located on a busy main road and there is only one way to access the hotel (due to one way restrictions and road dividers in place). Parking space There is hardly any parking space inside the hotel compound. Only 5 (max 6 cars) can be parked inside the hotel and, as a result, guests were asked to park in a open ground two plots adjacent to the hotel and walk back. The open ground was filled with dust and the cars get EXTREMELY dirty when you park them overnight in that open ground. The parking facilities at the hotel left a lot to be improved. Lift As some electrical maintenance work was happening for two hours, there was no power (nor backup generator) for those two hours. Guests were left inside their rooms without any power (whatsoever) and were asked to climb the stairs due to non-availability of lifts during those two hours. Such maintenance works should ideally be scheduled past midnight when the guest traffic is minimum and not between 4-6 pm. Overall, it was not a pleasnt experience. Will I go back to this hotel again - certainly not.

Rooms are tidy. There is no ventilation in the bathroom. Service needs improvement.

I stayed in Executive Deluxe room which had a colorful curtain, decorative glass. I liked only one thing, that is the complementary breakfast.

Interview Interview

by Babuvel D on November 11, 2016

Had to book this hotel as I had better experience in the past. However this time its completely different. Booked the hotel online months back. Checkin: - After travelling for 21+ hours with infant reached the hotel at 4:30am. Receptionist was on duty however he is not sure if room is available :( - Then a room was made available, however it needs to be cleaned. They were waiting for someone from room service to clean. - After 60 to 90mins of waiting in the lobby [No fan/Air conditioning] with infant becoming restless due to travel we got into the room. - Room was small, not cleaned properly. Bathroom was not good and they just had a towel as dry mat in bathroom. - They promised better room which we never got in 3 days of stay. Stay: - We had to unfortunately stay 3 days here and the service staffs were really helpful. Checkout: - We had to extend our stay by a day unfortunately. - When we had to checkout its then horror began. The cab was waiting to pick us and we had a flight to board in next 3 hours. - Receptionist told that I booked through some third-party website and I need to pay extra. - I told them that its their problem and I booked months back and why it was not rejected at booking time or atleast when I checked in to the hotel. Why a mess during checkout? - We were not offered help to bring down the luggage, and we carried ourselves with the infant. We weren't even offered drinking water which we requested an hour back before checkout. - After a big drama and exchange of words they finally decided to check out us and I was allowed to leave. Airport: Once I reached airport, I put the mobile in silent mode and kept inside the bag as I need to go over all the security screening. When I checked the mobile before boarding I saw some 15 Missed calls from the hotel number. Seems I forgot the surrender the key as the receptionist was mainly interested in getting extra money rather than do what he is actually supposed to do. So seems Karma had them instantly and everyone were asking me to return the key as soon as possible as their boss might dismiss them. Seems its considered security risk to them. I sent the key later next day via courier service. Would never ever go to this hotel and won't recommend to anyone.

Budget hotel in the middle of the city Budget hotel in the middle of the city

by aaru1980 on September 3, 2016

Mayura is a budget hotel in a busy area of Chennai, so it is Ok for people who want to spend less time in the hotel and explore the city. The location is fine, as it is well connected to various suburbs by road (not sure of train or metro), and there is Forum Vijaya Mall across the road for shopaholics! The rooms are decent and I didn't find anything to complain, though the staff need to be little prompt at work. The restaurant offers a limited variety of dishes but they are tasty in general. Suitable for family/even short business trips. Overall, not bad, value for money.

Nothing special plain hotel w/ clean rooms but workers are noisy. Room belles are quite loud sounds like some one is ringing your bell when they are ringing 3 rooms down. Breakfast very plain and waiters are rude with very loud TV in the restaurant. Some morning food was cold. Nice location and Forum mall across the street is nice..FRONT DESK GIRL IS NICE and other staff good.
