We (myself and my wife) are visiting from the US and got stuck in India amid the Coronavirus pandemic. We traveled from Hyderabad to Chennai on March 23rd 2020 as the lockdown was starting. We were to leave India on March 29th but all domestic and international flights were cancelled. With the epidemic scare everywhere in the world, we were naturally worried about our safety and well being and if the hotel would continue to operate. Contrary to our apprehensions, the hotel has been operating during the lockdown mostly business as usual, with the same 5Star standards they always operated. The staff are kind and caring from the front desk to the kitchen to the restaurants, cleanliness is at its best, and overall we started feeling comfortable very soon. The best part was our food at the Oasis Restaurant. All the staff at the restaurant are very friendly and always serve food with a smile. Special mentions are due to Mr. Ayyanarappan, the newly joined Chef at the restaurant. He would spend time to talk to all customers, understand their food preferences, and cook customized food accordingly. While there is a standard menu, he never constrained us to the items in the menu. My wife would request for items that are not in the menu and he would go an extra mile to order vegetables accordingly and cook us what we want rather than prescribing the menu items to choose from. His soups are the best we ever tasted and he takes special care to prepare healthy foods, considering the epidemic around. He and his team have abundant enthusiasm to serve guests with foods of their choices. I hope the epidemic would end and we are able to travel soon, but wanted to place on record the appreciation we had developed for the hotel and their staff even before vacating. Thank you for taking good care of us and making us feel at home.
