Came to know about this place through a colleague of mine, even he has not visited by came to know from his friend that the place is good. This is exactly where I committed a blunder, never take a word from person who is not experienced the services.
Went as a family of six adults and two kids. With some hotels, you wonder how they get a good rating and have a pathetic service in real; this resort is a classic example. All good in rating but very disappointing in real.
For prospective guests to this place, here is the summary/my experince
- Average room with leaky AC
- Below average cleanliness in the premises. Had all the food waste piled up behind my room.
- Average food (Ala carte), Pathetic breakfast (Complementary)
- Staffs with no clue about their jobs (Front desk and restaurant)
- Did not get to try the beach activities, as it was shut and this was not informed while booking.
- The only good thing in my stay was the extra bed which came without me asking for, all the other basic stuff (drinking water/food/ water in toilet) I had to beg and roll on the floor.
This for the hotel management,
It was struggle from the very first minute in the resort. We as a family came in for a vacation and you people made this into a nightmare.
Check in : Came into the resort by 1.30 PM as I was told the check in is 12:00 PM. The front desk people made us wait for an hour to provide us with the rooms. When questioned for the delay, I was told the previous guest did not vacate on time hence the delay. A teashop will have better management than this.
I requested for adjacent rooms while booking the same was denied, got rooms in two different floors. The person who took my booking and advance said the room tariff was 7500 but I was charged 9000.
Beach activities: The information that the beach activities are cancelled was conveyed after reaching the resort. This should be communicated at the time of booking. There was absolutely no point visiting this place just for the room and food.
Power issues: the rooms had partial power until late evening with just a fan running in the room. If you can charge the room tariff in full, I expect the service also to be full.
Room service: Ordered for dinner, the food was served partial with few items missing. When called for the missing item, the staff provided the food in a while and double charged for the same. I was asked to pay double and I was interrogated for several minutes and had to fight to get it removed from the bill. In contrary, the restaurant bill had dishes that I never ordered for, again had to fight to prove that we did not order those dishes.
Even a motel lodge would have a system when the food is delivered the delivery person gets the signature of the guest in the food bill. I do not know why this so-called star rated resort did not have.
Breakfast: the breakfast is included in the room tariff. The Breakfast timing is 08:00 AM to 10: 00 AM. Went by 09:30 AM, there were no idlies, no side dish for poori and there was no tea. When asked the person (Mr.Sachin) sitting outside the hall busy fiddling with his mobile phone, he was like if you come late this is what you get. His attitude was as if we were eating in his money. Sorry Sir you do not belong to this hospitality business.
Check-out: When it was time for us leave, the staffs were not really happy to leave us with a smile. Had to go through the bills, line by line as mentioned above there were duplicate charges, charges for the food that we never ordered. In addition, I was never given an invoice, I was quoted an amount and was asked to pay. When I did my math it did not come to that amount, then I was told that taxes are extra. When asked what is the percentage of tax he had no clue. Then suddenly came up with 10% room service charge. I had to hold my head and stand for an hour to put an end to this ordeal.
Bottom-line: Please understand that hospitality is just not about moneymaking. It is about providing a memorable experience. You guys gave me nightmare.
Very unhygienic and poor service. Bad experience overall and way overpriced. Please stay away. Staff have very low standards. Rooms have poor design and very poor view and no WIFI. Seems to be a place where no one cares for feedback. Rooms and toilets are unclean.
Good resort near beach. Gated security and decent size villa...But restaurant room service and quality of food requires improvement. We ordered non-spicy food at restaurant and received a very spicy food despite ordering personally at restaurant and specifically instructing on written order as well. Returned the same and again received same food after 5 mins. Returned second time and then got non-spicy food finally for kid.
Also morning breakfast spread needs a improvement both variety and quality as well. Rest was ok and beach approach was good except in evening when it becomes very crowdy and dirty.
Am really happy that I selected Sea La Vie for our stay during our return from another resort after celebrating New Year.Travelled with wife & my little one & stayed here for couple of days.Seems like both of them also had a fantastic time.
Check in & check out process was smooth & quick. The studio rooms are neat with excellent ventilation, having balconies both at front & rear.
Beach & the restaurant of the resort is reachable in just a quick walk of 3-4 mins.
Had a great time at the beach but a suggestion to fellow goers to be careful if you are a non swimmer, the waves are tempting & they can really drag you in fast.
Staffs at the resort are very helpful & positive.Special Thanks to Mr.Dinesh for helping us out with so many of our requests.
Some suggestions would be,the restaurant needs a bit of improvement in terms of dishes prepared, since most of the things we ordered were not that great in terms of taste.
Second apart from beer the bar needs to have some more alcoholic beverages in its menu.
Am not sure but I found it amazing that almost none of the resorts located in ECR now a days doesnt hold a well defined bar.
Finally I would love to visit this property again & recommend it to my friends.
Sea la vie...as the names says on the beach...this year we planned for a vacation for South India and Kovalam was one of the destination among the stays...we stayed I. Sea La Vie hotel at Kovalam, we entered the hotel and it was such a pleasure to see the beautiful resort. It was on the sea shore... staff was courteous and helpful, the beach view was simply amazing, kids really enjoyed it. Studio apartments were spic and span with good amenities. Rooms were spacious and beds were comfertable. Food quality was also good. Kids play are was absolutely attraction as it keep kids busy and they had gala time. Roof top restaurant in front of beach is a good concept, enjoyed sunset and sunrise at the roof top. Will definately recommend this place to have a wonderful time with family.
