We stayed at the Residency for 10 days and we never felt that we were away from our Home .Highlight of our stay was the quality of their hospitality and personalize food . Don't miss specialty food prepared by their chefs Mr Ganesh..Mr Kannan.
Location is good and rooms are very decent. One must try their thali and rasam rice .quality of their preparation is simply awesome
Stayed at The Residency as part of a large group of friends for 5 nights. The hotel is nice, quite typical of India I think. Everything works ok, and its clean. We went for a suite as the prices were very reasonable, however it did not look a lot like the website pictures, (guess they are a bit old) and it wasnt as big as expected, but still nice to have a separate lounge area and massage chair.
Another plus to the suite is you get free airport transfers which is really helpful, and they picked us up at 5am from the airport which was appreciated after a 11hr flight!
Breakfast was good too, huge amount of choice, a few British items, although I would recommend the Dosa which they cook and bring to you.
Also the black white bar is nice, limited choice of beers, but some live music nights which were interesting. Also a bit odd with a smoking room off the bar, which is not very air tight so theres a smell of tobacco smoke throughout.
The hotel also arranged a 3hr tour with one of their drivers for us, Laurence was really great, and took us around Chennai and to some museums and temples for about 10 total so that I would recommend.
Also the 24hr check in is not well explained, it basically means you pay for every day following the time you check in, we paid for an extra day as we arrived at 5am and wanted to go straight to our room. But if we hadnt we were expected to check out at 5am the day we left. This was not made clear and caught out a few of our group, who then had to pay for an extra day.
Negatives however about this hotel came apparent as we were all trying to check out. They put extra items on everyones bill! Trying to charge us for our airport transfers and arguing that actually only free one way (not true), so every one of our group had to have an argument with management about the bills to have these items taken off. Our transfer to the airport was also late, as we think they gave it to someone else.. they also nearly lost my husbands shirt that he requested be ironed. Several angry conversations later and it appeared (48 hours after being dropped off). They also were not forthcoming or helpful in recommending nearby restaurants to go to (they obviously want or to stay in the hotel), and as a result wouldnt order us taxis to go out..
Overall I dont think I would stay here again, not sure any of our group would either.
1. Hotel Room was Good and very compact.
2. Location was Good
1. Food was really bad
2. Right from starters(All veg started were unavailable to Roti(Burnt Roti's) all were bad, veg was manageable.
3. Reception people were careless they didnt inform proper room number and it was not warm
4. Parking space is insufficient.
It a good hotel with many restaurants option. Rooms are good and they have very good mini bar. All type food is avilable 24*7.
It has club on 10th floor decent.
The only flaw i found was the room had a particular little odour. It was all cleaned and maitained but still wont feel fresh i had a last room on lobby.
