Urvashi Residency

Great location, really pleasant and clean rooms. The staff was very polite and generous, very helpful and accommodating. This is the first time I booked a Urvashi Residency and as the name suggests, it was really a fabulous stay. Thanks for such a wonderful experience!

Nice hotel, Good hospitality, good atmosphere, good amenities, the staff was very friendly and polite the room was the clean, neat and clean toilet, overall satisfaction in your facilities, rooms, and staffs.

I stayed at Uravshi on Oct 11, 2019. When I checked in at 5 am, the front desk staff was not friendly. We had to request an extra towel and I felt the staff discriminated against me for not being a North Indian. I went to have breakfast at 7.20 am, was told that breakfast is only ready at 7.30 am. I asked to inform me when the coffee or tea was ready and waited in the area serving breakfast. I was told the hotel had been up and running for two years, but trunk cables were exposed beside my table. At 7.40 am, I went to the coffee and tea airports, and there coffee and tea were already there since I arrived at 7.20 am. The dishes came out slowly and i asked for hot water. The staff took the kettle and placed it on the floor and boiled the water. after that he placed the glass on the floor and poured the hot water. he took a jug of cold water and mixed with the hot water as teh glass was on teh floor and staff and customers were walking around and dust were being kicked about. he takes the glass and brings to me and leaves it on my table without a word. My main observation was - the staff was not trained on hygiene as some were in slippers and looked liked that had just woken up. Boiling water on the floor and pouring the water in a glass on the floor. The area looked like being renovated. My last observation - The staff smiled and conversed with people of North Indian outlook. They were friendly to them. Throughout my stay at the breakfast, none of the staff spoke to me, as the manager was eating in the small enclosed bar area. I checked out immediately and went to another Hotel.

I saw this hotel during my last visit to Chennai. So I booked via booking.com website to stay for 1 night. During check in hotel reception staff said 24 hours checkin and checkout is not applicable for the guests booked via online. Then I said, I respect the hotel policies and requested to extend the check out as I am going to stay for first time. First, they did not agree and after sometime they gave extension for 2 hours to check out. They can mention 24 hours check-in the online websites. After checked in to the room, rooms were clean but house keeping people did not keep hand towel in the bathroom. Breakfast was ok. Only advantage of staying in the hotel is the location.

Urvashi Residency does not look the same as what you see on the websites. My colleague and I had a nightmare as we booked this hotel based on the review and the pictures we saw on the net. When we reached the hotel, we realized that the hotel had no wifi and the telephone lines were not working. Furthermore, the rooms were not clean and the toilets appeared to be stinking. Poor customer service. There was only one person at the reception area and he was running helter-skelter to attend to different customers' queries. A little later our taxi driver told us that this hotel is not perfect for those who do not use the bar services and late-night drinking. Those who stay in this hotel are heavy boozers that make the toilet very smelly. There is no ventilation to the rooms and exhaust fans in the toilet. My colleague's room key did not work and it took 45 minutes to resolve this problem. They could not give us an alternative room. We had to buy our own room freshener from the supermarket and since we had already paid for our stay prior to our arrival we compromised our stay for 2 nights. The morning breakfast lacks spread and hygene. We observed staff using their bare hands to lay the food that was irritating. We decided not to have our breafast there and stepped out of the hotel to a nearby restaurant. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially to business travellers or people with family.
