Great, comfy hotel. Our last two nights was in a great, spacious room (the first was not brilliant). A pleasant courtyard near the pool where you can breakfast and dine. The evening staff are helpful, but not great at sorting out the room problem we had on the first night. It was resolved the next day. Ask for the 3rd floor overlooking the front gardens.

This was the first of our hotels on a Southern Kerala tour and was a wonderful start to our trip. The room was clean and comfortable with good ensuite facilities. All the staff were friendly and helpful, The food was very good though the breakfast could have been little bit more exciting.The location in Fort Kochi is only a street away from the water front and the chinese fishing nets and although we had our own car and driver, the hotel is ideally situated to explore Fort Kochi on foot or by tuk tuk. We found the area around the hotel to be quiet and when out walking the locals were all very friendly.We would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Kochi.

Thought this hotel represented really good value for money. The staff were very welcoming. We had a comfortable room and a good bathroom. Shower though could have been a bit hotter. We didn't eat in the restaurant which was a shame as we heard that the chef was extremely talented. Would happily return.

If this small hotel had a drinks licence we would not have left the hotel to eat. The chef is very talented and the small plates that we tasted at lunch time were pretty spectacular. A fusion of SE Asian and Indian contemporary cuisine which he hadn't found elsewhere on our travels in India. Breakfast was also very good with a high quality selection and some fantastic sweet loaf cakes. Eighth Bastion is part of the CGH hotel group so you can expect great quality furnishings, bathrooms and service. We particularly liked our really big room and the open air shower. There is a small very warm pool which my husband described as like swimming in a 'bath'. The hotel is also ideally situated for the promenade and the chinese fishing nets. You can walk everywhere and to a number of good restaurants. The only point worth mentioning is that with such a central location you will get a bit of noise at night. It didn't bother us at all. I would have given this hotel a 5 star rating if had not been for the lack of a drinks licence as we do like a beer sat by the pool.

Good clean rooms. A/C in rooms and en suite facilities. Dining inside (A/C) or outside in the courtyard. Small but nice pool for relaxing in and sunbeds. Nice communal seatin areas in the foyer and outside the rooms. Food was very good with an extensive menu of Indian, Chinese and other Asian foods. All food was of a very good quality. Dry hotel (no alcohol). Good position near to the Dutch Cemetry and near the costal/estuary promenade for walking on. Chinese fishing nets a short walk away. There is a lift in the hotel and tea/coffee facilities in the room.
