Old world charm and service Old world charm and service

by Greg T on January 22, 2017

This is a well located gem in the Fort Cochin. It is medium sized (not too big} with a pool, great food and exceptional service. Near the waterfront and 10 mins walk from the Chinese fishing nets on the foreshore. Staff helped with other areas of Kerala, how much to pay tuk tuks and where to go to get the best experience in Cochin. No TV in the room which was actually relaxing. There is a cosy, warm pool and it is near to the Princess St shopping and eating area. Great value for money.

In a very nice part of town! In a very nice part of town!

The hotel's in Fort Kochi a delightful suburb(?) of Kochi with little of the noise/traffic/fumes that you become used to when travelling in India. It's worth getting a guide for a tour as there's a lot to see. Lovely little hotel with a hint of minimalist 1920's Art Deco design. Reasonably sized and comfortable bedroom with balcony. Ours overlooked the entrance so could watch the coming and goings as the sun went down! Decent sized bathroom but with shower only which was fine for us but others may differ? Dining room was cosy with large windows facing onto an open courtyard, Breakfast was a reasonable selection of cereals, fruit, breads plus the usual cooked option. Didn't have dinner here as we went to nearby Oceanos. Unfortunately didn't have an alcohol licence.which was a pity as lounging in the courtyard with a G&T would have been perfect. The staff, as we found throughout our trip in Kerala were attentive, polite and helpful.

Shame about the location of the room Shame about the location of the room

by RosieLincs on January 17, 2017

I have rated this as 3 stars because of the room 102. There are far better rooms in the hotel with excellent balconies, but is pot luck what you get. I would have preferred to pay a little more and have a room in a better location of the hotel. The problem with the room was its proximity to the reception, don't even try to have a nap during the day you can hear every sound amplified due to the echo. The sitting area is next to a work area and faces a wall. Fortunately there is no sound on a night . If I had been in a better room I would have rated the hotel 4 stars, service is excellent and the breakfast was of exceptional quality with plenty of choice both western and Asian. We did not eat there in the evening due to the lack of atmosphere as others have said, it is a shame they have not been able to get a license yet for wine and beer, as I am sure the food will be of high quality. The location of the hotel is good and is was useful to have the small pool to have a dip in. Would I stay again yes but only if I could guarantee one of the rooms on the upper floor facing the beach .

Great hotel on a perfect location Great hotel on a perfect location

Very nice small hotel. Tastefully decorated with dutch art, which I liked of course. Room next to the front door gave us some worries, but it was quiet and very spacious. The location near to the beach is wonderful. The restaurant very modern excellent cooking, what a surprise. Would definitely choose again for this hotel.

We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and service. Had a lovely dinner the first night and good breakfasts. The room had a balcony and ocean view. The only problem was that one needed to renew the Internet access code for each device each day. The staff was accommodating and helpful.
