We enjoyed dining at their restaurant. They have great variety of cuisines for the budget buffet dinner. All foods are delicious and 5 star quality. Best budget buffet dinner you will get in Cochin is from this hotel. All stars are really caring and supportive to you. Never miss their dinner in your life time. Enjoy yourself once.
Though the rooms are nice, spacious, clean and reasonably priced, the service needs to be improved. The service response time is bad. Shortage of reception staff. You have to carry your own luggage to rooms. (Though they have bar in the hotel, no alcohol available in the mini bar provided in the room. They must provide at least beer in the mini bar.??)
We had the occasion to stay at this hotel twice. For locals on convention or training, this hotel may be a good choice, For tourists vacationing or travelling through Kerala, it makes for a poor choice. Presently they are building a metro/skyway/above ground train system going directly outside the hotel. The traffic and congestion is terrible even for Indian standards. It took us half hour to cross one street and that is with a policeman standing directing traffic. The reason we were crossing was that the hotel didn't allow ricksahws to come into the property.
There is an elevator. The first room was tatty, thin sheets, thin towels, the second was moderately better, but clean. We were three adults and had booked a triple room. What we got all the time was a cot with a thin mattress. We asked for a second mattress. They never catered for three, ie towels, glasses, cups, water, shampoo. the third bed wasn't there. After a long distance flight from North America through Dubai, you don't want to wait for a cot to be brought in and set up for the next 90 minutes..
The hotel does have a pool of sorts. Once again, the area around the pool has loose tiles, mildew walls and you are overlooking the construction of the skyline outdoors. There was a strike on the first two days, so there was really nothing to do at the hotel. There is no garden in which to spend time. Luckily there was a Ayurvedic massage available for men but not for women since someone had to be called in to accommodate women. Of course the masseuse couldn't get to the hotel because of the strike. The hotel had little to offer by way of guest respite other than sitting in the small lobby. By 6 pm the strike was over and you could go to the local mall, Lulu, since everything on the itinerary was closed for the day.
This is a really big shopping centre with North American style stores and the odd Sari shop or Indian design labels. There was an impressive Hypermarket, a costco style store. You can buy foods such as 4 types of birianis, Indian sweets, appam, dosas, curries of all sorts etc. Note, because of the construction, the mall is 40 minutes away by rickshaw, your quickest option.
The food at the hotel Gokulam was excellent. Krishnakumar knew what guests should be introduced to by way of Kerala specialities. I would give him the 4 stars. His service was excellent. The buffet breakfast included was also excellent. Fresh fruit, eggs cooked how you want it, North American style breakfasts or Indian style with a variety of appam, vada, dosas, upma each time.
I may have rated this hotel higher if they had catered for three initially, and if not for the present construction. The hotel is close to MG Road (Mahatma Gandhi), but you would risk your life if you tried to walk the two blocks. The night drive to the airport at midnight was like a video game with great cement obstacles thrown in, and weaving back and forth on to oncoming traffic lanes due to lane closures. The construction will go on for the next three years. Even our experienced chauffeur remained daunted and he was previously a bus driver. There are much better selections in Fort Kochi for hotel options or elsewhere one should consider. The hotel was selected by the outsourced Travel agency in Delhi. The hotel does have wifi. He claimed it was a 4 star, but at best a 2 by North American standards.
In gokulam park i visited more than 15 times.it's a best auditorium for the marriage function, reception etc...It's near of my place. It's a correct place for the foreigners to stay.Good food, accommodation, swimming pools are there.it's a best one in ernakulam...
I checked in two hours early without any issues. i am impressed with their service, especially people @ restaurant .The buffet spread was wide as well the authentic Kerala dishes were mouth watering. There weekly theme dinner adds more flavor Staffs were very helpful and professionals. When we talk about the property, I can say it's a pure business hotel running by the professionals. Prime location, clean & spacious rooms with all the premium amenities. The traffic and blocks quite disturbed me the joys.
