We were initially drawn to Illam Heritage by the beautiful photos and description showcasing a heritage property full of charm and character. However, upon arrival, it quickly became clear that the reality of the property did not align with the images presented on Airbnb. Despite this, we decided to proceed with our booking for one night, eventually extending our stay for an additional day.
While the property is not located near Fort Kochi, we chose it for its proximity to the railway station, which was convenient for our travel plans.
Upon checking in during the evening, we dropped off our bags and headed out to explore the nearby markets for dinner. When we returned later that night, we found the room quite warm and requested a staff member to switch on the air conditioning. To our surprise, we were informed that it would take approximately an hour for the unit to cool the room. Exhausted from our travels, we decided to wait it out and get some rest. Unfortunately, the AC never functioned properly throughout the night, leaving us uncomfortable and unable to sleep soundly.
The following evening, after a pleasant day exploring, we returned to the property and raised our concerns about the air conditioning with a staff member. Their solution was unexpected ’ they suggested setting the AC to 33 degrees for a while before lowering it to 24 degrees. This method, unsurprisingly, did little to improve the situation, and we endured another restless, humid night.
In addition to the AC issues, the overall condition of the room left much to be desired. The bathroom and toilet were not well-maintained, with noticeable odors that persisted throughout our stay. The lack of cleanliness significantly detracted from the experience, making it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the stay.
While the location was beneficial for accessing the railway station, the misleading representation of the property and the lack of basic comforts made this stay a disappointment. I hope the management takes steps to address these issues, as the property holds potential if properly maintained and accurately portrayed.
Would I return? Unlikely, unless significant improvements are made to ensure that guests receive the experience advertised.

The best stay one can have in kochi if you are travelling with your friends or family. The stay is near to MG Road metro which makes the commute ease. Stay has some of the relics which will be fascinating for the person who is the aficionado of the old vintage things. If you are in kochi plan a stay here and have a pleasant time.
