Very Poor Very Poor

by Emil_jackson on May 16, 2015

Very bad service. Unkempt rooms and bad surroundings. Very bad reception and management. Loss of peace and loss of time and money. Pls. Ignore this place and stay somewhere else. It's a request. Power cuts, no proper water, lack of customer service and very bad attitude of management. Really terrifying replies. Rowdy attitude. Thieving also.

Nothing so Star about it Nothing so Star about it

Star Lagoon, part of the Star Homes Group is a totally rundown apartment hotel, far away from the main sights of Kochi such as Fort Kochi etc, in a very residential area. Apparently renovations are underway. It would be best for this place to shut down, get renovated completed and ensure the management was most efficient and effective. For a price of Rs 2000/- for a one bedroom suite for two people per day, with all the issues below, this is a horrible place. We do not recommend it at all. The only saving grace was an extremely helpful housekeeping chap named Prince. Some issues to highlight 1. 5 plug points in the one bedroom apartment suite, and only one worked. 2. Heater Did not work. So we had RUNNING WATER , someone ran and got it for us, for one day only since the weather was hot enough for cold water baths. 3. Flush Did not work, so you fill a bucket and pour it out into the pot. 4. AC needed repair, but a mechanic came and fixed it. 5. Bed Sheets were old and worn out, and they were dusty. Pillows were ancient. 6. Curtains were moldy and layered with dust, since it was a peach colour it was very visible. Disgusting. 7. Most of the staff were unavailable on the Saturday we were there. This meant that even though we went for breakfast by 8 am, the food laid out was sparse and the whole dining area looked as if a tornado came there. Plates & Food strewn about the place, the tables were not wiped out. The look of it all made us lose our appetites for breakfast. By the way this is charged extra. 8. TV had no remote. 9. Only two lights worked. 10. No good shops or basic grocery conveniences within walking distance. 11. Dont care attitude of reception staff even after repeated calls, they had no clue of our booking till I jogged their memory of our e-mail/phone communications. 12. Not at all recommended for tourists who are coming to visit the sights of the region, as most sights at 30-60 mins away from this place by car. If you still want to come here because it may work out budget wise and can put up with all of the above, then ensure you have a vehicle and driver handy to take you around, and have all home delivery food numbers within the area. Apparently it works out cheap for very large groups, as we saw 4 buses of children come to stay here on a bus tour for one night only and some folks who looked like sportspersons on some tournament

Quite terrible experience Quite terrible experience

Reached Star Lagoon hotel around afternoon. We thought this hotel would be really nice but in turn we had quite a bad experience. The Front Desk was not polite Frequent power cuts, each time we had to give call to front desk to start the backup power There was no good food service and menu was very limited. This is apartment style hotel and not unlike common hotel. Maybe good for very large family wanting for cheap accommodation. Once you are inside the hotel , it is difficult to go out, unless you have an own car or book for auto. House like stay, bad service and hotel seems about to close down, power cuts

Don't bother Don't bother

this run down dirty tower is located in the heart of a residential area so be prepared to find your way to the main MG road (where the shops and eateries are). We had booked 4 nights with our agent in London just so we could find our feet and move on to the other parts of Kerela. We arrived at around 4am after a long flight. Me, my wife and our 7yr old son. There was only one small double bed (we booked a triple) and no bedding, no towels, toilet paper or soap. I asked for the bedding and was told they would get housekeeping to bring some up when they get in at 6am. The staff were ok but seemed to not care about the state of the place. We stayed that morning and the next night, then got the hell out of there. Again the staff didn't question our early departure as I think this would have been a regular occurrence. They guy behind the desk did however say (with a big grin on his face) "I hope you had a wonderful stay". We were on the 11th floor with no hall lighting and a massive wasps nest outside. I did also feel because of the lighting situation, if in the event of a fire you'd be hard pushed to find a way out. we ended up getting a cab to Fort Kochin which was lovely.

way below par and very dissappointing way below par and very dissappointing

travelled to kochi for a one day stay with family on vacation to kerala in dec 2010. the hotel is simply not worth even half of what they charge. location is deep inside residential area and one has to navigate through by lanes to get there. If you have a large vehicle(we used innova) it may be difficult to manouvre. The rooms are in shabby state, toilets are not hygenically maintained, the rooms did not have blankets, towels, soaps, shapoos, drinking water etc. etc. To summarise, the rooms had not even been equipped with the bare minimum amenities one would expect in evem a low grade hotel. The worst was the service. We waited over two hours after placing a request for the above items with housekeeping, only to be told that they are out of stock for the blankets, towels, bed sheets etc. We finally managed to secure two towels and two blankets for the seven of us ( five adults and two children), We somehow passed the night managing without the blankets, and skipped the monring bath prior to our early morning flight to mumbai for lack of linen. Overall a very humiliating, depressing and avoidable place. Please do not get carried away by whatever they are claiming on their site, none of it is anywhere near the truth. Stay here only if you are used to staying in a railway dormintory or dharamshalas. Dont recommend it to anyone travelling with families.
