I booked a three night stay at Tissa's Inn based on trip advisor reviews and my expectations based on the reviews led to some disappointments. It's got a great location and a lovely staff with one exception. At breakfast I felt very pressured by the chef to make a commitment for dinner which I finally resisted for my final night. His cooking was fine which made his daily pressure puzzling to me. I also had a massage at an establishment a short walk from the inn and recommended by them. In my opinion, at 2000 rupees, it was on the expensive side. And there was no shower provided at the end - just a bucket and two taps. I found it difficult to get the massage oil off and almost impossible to stand on their wet tile floor while trying to so. Sanitha, at the Inn's reception desk, complained to them on my behalf, and I was offered a discount on a massage if I ever returned to Cochin. Overall a satisfactory stay.
This is an intimate hotel with just eight rooms and a good restaurant. It also has a pool on the roof. It is in the Fort Kochi area and is about ten minutes walk from the famous Chinese fishing nets and the walking area along the bank. We went for the Kochi biennale and it could not have been better placed for us!
Tissa's Inn is well located in Cochin and only minutes walk away from the shops, restaurants and Chinese Fishing Nets. The people at Tissa's Inn were extremely helpful and the two receptionists were absolutely charming. The restaurant had a wide choice and the chef was open to all suggestions if you gave him sufficient notice. He organised our evening family meals on the rooftop. The rooms were spacious, clean with air conditioning. The WiFi was satisfactory and the rooftop swimming pool was also a great "plus".
Tissa's is a top hotel in a fabulous Kerala city. Try booking via a local Indian travel agent as the Web booking is designed for "foreigners" and is not indicative of the best prices. The chef will buy your fish and prawns after you order at breakfast. Great service and boy can that man cook. A bit Pricey compared to other restaurants but so so cheap compared to any western country.
Stayed here for three nights. The room was big and very clean. The staff were extremely helpful, meeting every request immediately - which I hope is reflected in their pay. They did however give us space as well. The roof top pool is a real oasis in a very busy town - It's quiet, not overlooked and the staff are rarely up there so it's easy to sunbathe without feeling inappropriate. The food was excellent and cooked exactly to our tastes with a lot of love. More expensive but this was reflected in the quality of what was served by a very friendly chef. I think the wifi needs a bit of improvement as it was a bit hit and miss but I've found this to be the case in every hotel we've been in so far. If you want a hotel which is clean, comfortable, has a pool and excellent food then choose this one. It also has great access to everywhere. We would stay here again.
