Home stays are about caretakers. Beehive definitely got the best of the breed. I was looking for a romantic motorcycle touring holiday from bangalore to Coorg and booked online. Caretaker/owner Naveen changed the accommodation with in few hours of notice as one room in original home stay was partially occupied by couple of bachelor guests and that would be uncomfortable to me and my wife. I did not request him to do it but he did it on his own. Room was very clean and food was decent. He helped us with tour planning and safety issues. Totally worth it. You feel like you've been to a close relatives place than a home stay. I strongly recommend it to any one. Esp couples on budget.

Comfortable place to stay. Pleasant view of coffee garden. Good room service. Difference environment. stay will in the middle of chrip of birds, cool breeze...Worth for money paid. Never miss to stay in this place
First up - Search only for "Ammathi" on your GPS and you will reach the right place - searching for "Beehive ammathi" takes you to a wrong place in Madikeri for some weird reason. Ammathi is a very small town which reminded me of RK Narayan's Malgudi in some ways! Loved spending time here. The homestay is a quiet, green, calm place. The bamboo cottage stands right at the edge of a coffee plantation with a soul refreshing astounding view. A morning walk through the coffee plantation could make for one of the most memorable mornings of your life!. The bamboo cottage is a real bamboo cottage made up only of bamboo - unlike some other places where bamboo is fixed on walls etc to give a bamboo cottage feel !! The food here is delicious and the homestay hosts care for and pay attention to your tastes and interests.. Only thing is that its a little far off (1hr approx.) from tourist spots such as talkaveri, raja seat etc - but that's actually an advantage as you get to stay away from touristy commercialised environment!!.It gets really silent here in late evenings and we could feel a sense of cleansing inside while spending time here. The family that runs this homestay is highly courteous, gracious, warm and helpful. We were two families and we had a great time here and would highly recommend this if you are looking for a relaxing vacation to unwind and recharge!!
Firstly you need to understand that Bee hive in Ammathi is a home stay but not a hotel or lodge .Good place for families to stay . Sanjay(owner) is very supportive . We did stay there for 3 days . Only draw back is Bee hive is 35 to 40 kms from medikari .Still Ammathi is very peaceful place without pollution and lot of coffee plantations. View of coffee plantation form bamboo cottage is excellent. Ammathi don't have good restaurants. So need to go to siddapura for food which is 8 kms away (breakfast will be served at cottage).
This was not my first home stay but this one is my favorite. A plain reason is, the owner of the property was really nice and influential. If you are going to Coorg for sightseeing, trekking etc then may be you would like to stay somewhere closer to the city. But this place is far from city and probably the best place to chill out. It offers you a lot of peace and greenery around. Hope my words do not mislead you. But you would fall in love at first sight of the cottage. Definitely would remind you of your childhood as long as you are not someone who was born with a silver spoon. The ambience was fantastic. Morning tea/coffee in the veranda being my favorite. You would want to wake up early so that you don't miss it. And there's the breakfast, authentic coorgi food. Amazing. Mr. Sanjay, the owner is a wonderful person, very helpful and empathetic. In fact, the paintings inside the cottages are all his creations. He took us for a walk to show his coffee plantation. That was one good experience. Coffee, Pepper, Teak, Rosewood, Betel-nut, Betel-leaf, ponds and many more...Mr Sanjay was not at all tired answering our numerous questions. Thanks a lot, Sir. Finally the most amazing thing were the bees. There was actually one box (9 frames) full of bees which Mr Sanjay has been taking care of. I had never been so close to bees. It's a different topic altogether. But very much suits the name of the home-stay 'Bee Hive'. Thanks a lot for making our stay so amazing. :):):)
I like this home stay a lot may be this my first home stay or the owners are really good. its in Ammathi Town. If you have a own vehicle and like to see Coorg around, then this is place is correct. Mr.Sanjay Gandhi is very good, we have taken a cottage with three bedrooms; by the time we reached the cottage was painted so he offered his friends home stay for us. But we still felt stay here is good because of his gratitude. Next day morning he took us for his estate-walk, which enjoyed a lot. He patiently answered all our questions and took us to his house to show his gun and paintings. His house is really good, even the cottage has rose-wood furniture; u can see history everywhere in his place. Both wife and husband are very friendly and they have good garden around in their house. I paid 2000/- per night with only breakfast and they don't allow cooking in the cottage. Pay the money through NEFT to his account to confirm the stay.
