This time I came from Dharmasthala to madikeri late night by road drive and I was not able to get any hotel being last hour hunt . However I found this place through oyo rooms and got a stay for a night This place is some 2 Kms from madikeri and it is towards way to Dharamshala highway . The entrance is very very scary and you have to be slow while identifying it . However I was able to identify the place through google maps and it has shown correctly . The small road leading to the place is bit scary and even with a high end sedan and experienced driver I was struggling in the night to drive . There were no lighting or sign boards to this place and i reached here only through google maps support . One info is you have to activate google maps in the madikeri town itself else you will be lost . Road approach - scary not recommended for amateur drivers needs improvement in pavement and identification Stay - they have hardly 3-4 rooms and it is a jungle bungalow customised for stay . No big expectation Food - it is prepared by the caretaker and no major offerings but disappointing . But if you are ready for a down to earth local food it can be your choice Camp fire - the caretaker is able to arrange small camp fire in the night and they have created a small place for the same . Hardly 10 people can sit at this place and there is very small waterfall near the campfire location Rooms - rooms are normal and good bedding for such a cold place . Internet /wifi is available but it is not working The cost provided during oyo booking is pricey and it recommended for the service they offer . Needs lot of correction The service is taken care by 2 young Adults / caretaker . No professionally trained hospitality guys are there The place is totally quiet no sounds in the night . Small activities like shuttle is available and parking is available for 4-5 cars . Place for natural lovers no big ambience or infrastructure and posh rooms .

This very basic home-stay is approx 3 k down a hill from Madikeri. A positive feature is its location on a coffee plantation next to a creek - green and quiet. Another is the 3 staff, who were friendly and helpful, and one of whom could cook - the proprietor wasn't really ever there. Our room was a very basic fan room with a bathroom & cable TV. The other facilities (air-con, desk, ironing, tea-making, hot water on demand, bottled water, swimming pool) were all non-existent and misrepresentations on Agoda, which we used to book the place. However, we still paid an absolute premium price for our stay, the same as we could have paid for a much nicer hotel with all those facilities in the centre of town. Unfortunately, we just couldn't afford to walk away and find somewhere else. Admittedly, our stay wasn't enhanced with the almost constant rain (we were told the wet season is June to October). Animal lovers may also be concerned at the guard dog (a beautiful, black labrador) being kept in a small cage - we took him for daily walks. Overall, a really basic place which could have been acceptable if we hadn't been massively overcharged. See if you can negotiate the price down to one suited to a basic fan room with breakfast.

Awesome place to chill out and relax with a great quality of food. Awesome place to chill out and relax with a great quality of food.

Great place to relax amidst forest located 3 Km from Madikeri Thimmaiah Circle. There are two floors in this home. The ground one is for family stay.Rooms are good. The best part is the food prepared by their cook named Dinesh. The in-charge of the property Mr. Shashi is very cooperative and helpful. They have plans to expand this place, third floor is already under construction and they plan to have a dining room also. Rates are also reasonable. From the main road, you have to go down in forest on a very steep road. But don't worry,Mr. Shashi drives nicely. He will be your guide.

Awesome find in the heart of Madikere with a great homestay manager Awesome find in the heart of Madikere with a great homestay manager

We were on a 3 day vacation to Coorg & Mysore on the last weekend before the schools reopened. The homestay that we had booked near Dubare Camp kushalnagar, was a disaster and we vacated it in advance without having a plan B. We were looking on the net and stumbled upon Forest Valley. Thankfully due to some cancellations, they had 2 rooms available. With an amount of skepticism, we reached the homestay. We were greeted by a smiling Sashidhar , the resort manager. Sashi made us feel very very welcome and was a truly warm, friendly and energetic person. His attitude makes all the difference. The 2 rooms were on ground and first floor. We stayed only for a night but had a great time with Sashi's company, the small stream near the homestay and the walk with the homestay's resident dog ( Brandy), a friendly lab. Positives: * The welcoming nature of Sashi and his never tiring attitude to assist, serve and help all the guests. He was a live-wire and made up for all other lacunas in the homestay. * The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. * The location of homestay ( in the valley) made it cool and really nice. Makes for great morning walks along the hills. * Less than 3 KMS to Madikere main town and you can get all your supplies there. * The costing/per room with food is very reasonable. Improvements: * The homestay can improve signage for their place as there is no airtel/cell signal from the mangalore highway to the resort. * The half done pool can be made operation but probably be a pain to maintain. * There is a huge amount of power fluctuation all through the day. I am not sure if the homestay can do much about it other than write to the power department.

"New Year 2016 in Coorg- Forest Valley"

by rak2016 on January 8, 2016

Me and my husband had a short trip to Coorg and had a night stay in Forest Valley. The home stay was surrounded by thick forest. Our experience in this home stay would not be a WOW because we had some issues in our room like water problem in wash basin, snails crawling on wash basin and big insects inside our room creating nuisance. The food quality was also not very great. No network inside the room and had to come out finding for mobile networks. Suggestion for improvements 1. Improve the quality of food. 2. Check and confirm the functioning of the room before handing over the room to the guest.
