As one says, every roads leads to the destination and this one was a perfect. As always i did a lot search before i hook to this homestay and Shamveel, the owner proved that I was not wrong in making this choice...
During 24-26 November, we planned to travel to Coorg and booked our stay at Honeypot Homes. its a splendid place in the middle of 240 acres of Coffee estate not far away (7 Kms) from Madikeri city. The homestay has 5 cottages and premium rooms. we preferred to be in cottage because we were 2 Adults and 2 kids. All scenic spots are very close to this Homestay within a range of 10KM. The complementary breakfast was not so great but it fills up to kick start your day rather holding at any other restaurant outside.
We were also offered a complimentary Coffee estate tour with Praveen who is a manager out there and also knows a lot about the estate. dont miss this if you are around next time.
There are many different plants apart from Coffee which i had not seen before.
If incase you are planning for a trip to Madikeri (Coorg) then dont think of any other place to stay, this is the ultimate destination to reside, relax and rejuvenate.
We stayed for a day in Aug-2017, based on generally good reviews on Tripadvisor.
We stayed in the One Bedroom Cottage, which has a second bed in the Loft level, accessed by a ladder (not a staircase).
The entire accommodation is comprised of 3 Cottages and a larger Villa with Rooms, built amidst a privately owned Coffee & Spice Estate of 250 Acres. There are well lit roads and pathways to the Cottages. The place is not far from Madikeri and fairly easy to reach as its on the Mysore-Madikeri main road.
The Cottage has good exterior build quality with decent washroom, elegant bedroom interiors and outside lounge furniture. The build quality is almost at par with 3 star resorts we have stayed in and certainly much better than average homestays.
The Cottage has a TV, Fridge and running hot water. Liquid handwash and bodywash are provided in the washroom. Towels and extra Blankets were already provided in the room.
The food is cooked in the home kitchen and was a major downside. Tasteless veggies and undercooked chapatis were served for dinner (paid basis)
Breakfast (complimentary) was also bad with toast & jam and a tasteless veg preparation. We had to leave the served breakfast and eat out.
Will I stay here again...YES certainly, but will have dinner packed from outside.
We traveled to Coorg on my birthday in April this year. I googled and found this place as we wanted to stay in a coffee plantation. In hindsight I would stay I tumbled upon one of the best places I have stayed in South India.
Honey Pot Homes is a homestay nestled among lush green coffee plantation. There are beautiful modern duplex cottages for a family and lots of place to sit out and roam around. We were delighted with the clean, spacious cottage with all facilities like TV, closets, tea coffee machines, good number of charging points and a small skylight too.
What stole our hearts was the lush green surroundings. The estate is more than 200 acres in area. It has coffee, pepper, tea, and many other trees and plants. We got a free tour of an hour inside the plantation and then a treat of the freshly brewed coffee which was divine.
For the two days we stayed, we got home made breakfast of puttus, bread, omelette, piping hot coffee which my parents simply adored. We had around 3-4 meals which were absolutely home food. Those expecting hotel kind of food, may not like. But we loved it as with my parents, I was looking for a low spice, healthy sumptuous meal.
Subbaiyah was the site manager and I must say he took extreme good care of us by attending to all our needs and requests.
We were also greeted by Mr Shamveel owner of the property who was very humble and treated us with the history of the place and his family. We also visited The Big Cup an urbane cafe of the same group around 3kms from Honey Pot Homes.
Our two days stay at Honey Pot Homes were pleasant, relaxing and stress free. Recommend this to anyone traveling to Coorg
An Excellent home stay with nature everywhere.Location and ambience is quite good.Though lunch & dinner was very average.Better to eat outside or bring food from outside. There is no play area but their garden is beautiful and kids will enjoy.
We stayed here for 3 Nights when visiting Coorg
