Happy Holiday with family and friends Happy Holiday with family and friends

by Sathish G on February 27, 2017

My friends and my family had a fantastic stay at Woodpecker home-stay over the last weekend. Sharmin and Princy are very hospitable hosts and have been good friends. I stayed with them the first time in 2014 and since then Woodpecker has been our choice for an outing. Sharmin is a very good host and takes care of his guest's needs efficiently. Woodpecker is the most perfect location for a peaceful stay with family or friends. Food is very delicious and a special mention for the lovely desserts prepared by Sharmin's wife Princy. Thank you Sharmin and Princy.

Bird and all Bird and all

by Sandipan S on August 6, 2016

After staying three nights with two Coorg families - Coluvanda and Tirtheera - our last stop was at Woodpecker, with Machamada family. Set at a valley after driving through the steep narrow road - the woodpecker is a lovely place to stay. We received warm welcome from the family - Sharmin, Princy, their son and Sharmin's mother - all came out and met us. We checked in. Rooms were large, clean. Later went to visit Iruppu and a short drive inside Nagarhole before meeting them again in the evening. Sharmin and we kept on chatting amidst the rain that resumed after darkness set in. Tea, warm soup kept on coming. And then the dinner. Chicken curry, delicious dal and the best pandi curry we ever had. Heavenly. And desert was a pleasant surprise - homemade gulab jamun. The location of the homestay is bit difficult to find - and mobile signal is very unreliable here. But the lovely mountain stream that flows behind the homestay will compensate everything. We spent morning by chasing the birds in the plantation. Sharmin introduced us to the tribal families that work in his estate. Go for it, if you love to indulge in Coorgi cuisine, drink the essence of nature to the fullest, and want to have the warmth of the caring family.

We stayed on 2nd Aug. The home stay is beautiful in middle of nature. Rooms are nice. While going...could not believe such a nice home stay can be in such a remote place. Owners are nice people...spend the whole evening with us sharing history about the place. Then the was just awesome. We completed our trip with a sweet memory.

Home away from home Home away from home

Desire to leave the city and its humdrum life behind and to escape to a serene place to call in the new year, we headed to coorg and accidentally came across this nice tucked away homely home stay. Spent an amazing and spectacular evening amidst the nature with bonfire, brilliant music, awesome food and lovely families. There were some bachelors as well and felt like a picnic with extended friends and family. It was a pleasure meeting the owner Mr. Sharmin and his wife who felt really bad that we had to leave 2 of our furbabies back in Bangalore and were sweet enough to let us know that they do accommodate pets as well. Overall it was an amazing experience and planning on returning there for another holiday with all our furbabies this time.

Paradise in coorg Paradise in coorg

by Praveen K on April 9, 2016

I found this paradise by accident. Just a few kms from the town of kutta is Manchalli where woodpecker homestay is located. Tucked away in the foothills of Kodagu (Coorg) this is a heaven. One of the best destinations I have ever been to. Wonderful scenery, undulating landscape. As Coorg ppl r known for there excellent food and great hospitality. A perfect place to relax. The rooms r spacious, very well maintained. As u step out of the room u see a garden of beautiful flowers & lawns. This is a perfect setting for relaxation. The host MR Sharmin and his wife Princy both made sure we were comfortable. Would highly recommend everyone to stay in woodpecker homestay when u visit Coorg. a fantastic place and gr8 host. Hospitality at its best.
