We had an amazing stay at Buckscent... located amongst the picturesque location of a foothill village which appears right off the books of Jim Corbett. During the lovely walks through the wild, one could actually visualise the land as described by Corbett in his encounter of 'Bachelor of Powalgarh'. The property is equally amazing. It is so refreshingly non commercial, yet with every modern aminity and comfort. Even the smallest of things are well thought of. It almost feels one is visiting an old friend, feeling accentuated by the charming hospitality of Jagdamba Ji and Mohan.
Last but not the least food was "awesome". The evening snacks around the bonfire were a huge hit especially with the kids.
Nestled in the quaint village of Pawalgarh, this resort was indeed a hidden gem. Run by the amiable Mr. Jagdamba Sharma and the efficient Mr. Mohan, who go all out to feed you 247 , ensure all activities are taken care of and take personal care.
No WiFi, no Airtel connectivity ensures your digital detox to the fullest and you enjoy all the beauty of nature with the village walks and the surrounding fields.
Great food, great recreation -books,music, sports, bonfire , tea and coffee round the clock, spacious rooms - all make it a great stay.
The only grouse we had was the unavailability of hot water in the bathrooms .
Except that - a wonderful little place which allows you to bond with fellow travellers as well.
The place is not near any of the parks gates though-but makes up for the enjoyable drive .
We came in a large group of 6 adults, 2 adolescents and two younger kids in the last few days of Dec 2016 . Stayed for 3 Nights and 4 Days.
Each age-group had its own needs and Mr Sharma, Mr Masih and the team made sure that all our needs were provided for and that we were comfortable.
The property is nestled in the forest and has the village fields on three sides and forest on one. It is in the Powalgarh area which is very rich in bird life.
Would recommend you hire a birding guide, rent an open gypsy and go for birding in nearby areas. Mr Masih should be able to help you with these.
If you are coming by your own vehicle you may like the last 4-5 km stretch which passes through the buffer jungle
One has to keep in mind that the property is a bit away from the usual jungle safari gates ... so it takes a little longer to reach and return from scheduled safari ...but that wasn't an issue for us ... we enjoyed the drive
TIP (for all resorts) for those visiting corbet in winter and in their own vehicles : It may be a good idea to reach forest gates in your own covered vehicle. The other option is: Getting on safari vehicle from your resort itself --> going super-fast to jungle gate (somehow you are always late) --> safari --> back super-fast to resort. This other option exposes you to really chilly mornings and evenings in an open jeep ...something you may not want to do if children and elderly are with you
Overall it is an excellent place with very helpful staff. We would definitely go there again sometime.
We visited the property for 3 days, as a group of 17 for a offsite conference.
Hospitality is the USP of this resort. The rooms were neat and clean with all required amenities available. The food was of outstanding quality and a rotational menu kept any repetition out-of-question till we requested for repeats of the super soft gulab jamuns made at their kitchen by the chef. The breakfast, lunch , dinner, evening barbeque or tea time pakodas were all of great quality and served with a smile. The chai Thela kept up a regular supply of great tea and coffee throughout the day.
Our group decided to make a mulled wine of sorts and the head chef very graciously let us use his kitchen to potter around. It was an evening to be cherished.
They have a well stocked Library, LED, Music and Movie collection, indoor games like pool and table tennis etc. They have separate Lawn for Volleyball, Badminton. We had a great time taking leisurely walks around the property and indulging in team sports. Owing to winters we didn't use the pool.
The staff has great leaders who lead by example like Mr.Mohan and Mr.Sharma. They function like a well oiled machinery to deliver a seamless customer experience with superb hospitality. It's truly a delight to have stayed at Buckscent.
Would return to this resort without even considering other options in the same area.
Not having internet connectivity in addition to no connectivity of airtel allowed us to concentrate on the task at hand and bond with colleagues without distractions.
The Corbett National Park though is a bit of a ride away. An early start in the day would help.
An Excellent place to unwind! Kudos to Buckscent team !
There is nothing that you can fault the place for.
Location - Right adjacent to the jungle in the middle of no where with no Mobile connectivity !! three cheers to that.
This 12 room Resort is small and cozy, makes you feel special rather that pedestrian.
Food is out of the world, the chefs try newer dishes every day.
Care taker Mr Sharma and his wonderful team will go out of their way to make you comfortable.
If you are looking at reconnecting with yourself, family and nature, this is the place to be.
