The service was excellent. We were greeted with a welcome drink on arrival. We were escorted to the room which was spick and span. The room had good heating facilities. Hotel has fantastic members of staff who will do anything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The food was lovely all credit to super chef and his assistants. We were given a bonfire to make a stay more memorable. The Hotel is located along side a river. There are facilities for the children to play as well.

Great hospitality, food and thoughtfully maintained place. I was lil skeptical due to some of the reviews but their team on the ground definitely deserves a pat on the back. The food was delicious. Service attitude was perfect and so were the social evenings planned by them. Thoroughly enjoyed the place with my family.

This hotel is located about an hour into Corbett National Park and requires an hour of hill driving to reach once you enter the Park. (With a 7 am start it took us 7.5 hours from Gurgaon) The location is fantastic by the river as the name suggests and you can watch it go by. We were in one of the 5 cottages that looks out onto the river - the view from the room of the river and the hills is very picturesque. The rooms are large, with balconies overlooking the river. The Daikin AC's ensured that the rooms were warm even in the winter. While there is not much to do in Marchula, the resort is largely self sufficient. There is a pool table, carrom board, Table Tennis, Chess Board, etc in the games room. In the evening they serve a high tea in the so called "Hut" . We loved the steaming hot cups of tea and pakoras served there. In the evening once it got dark, they lit a bonfire and they had a very talented guitarist (Sunil) to play Hindi songs. Definitely one of the highlights of the trip. There is also a Spa and the two ladies there - Chunu and Apenla did a really good job. A good idea after a long drive. The hotel can arrange a safari for you - but the Dhikala gate is an hour away, so not ideally located for a morning start. Since the gate closes by 6:45 am you need to leave an hour in advance. Would not recommend self driving in the dark on the hill roads. Our safari was booked on Tigerland Safaris (9897655055). They had a very good gypsy. Compared to the others the metal rods in the car were covered with vinyl which made them much easier to hold compared to the freezing cold convered ones. Our driver Ravi was very polite and knowledgable. Special thanks to Dikshanshu, the manager for the warm service. He held the lunch for us on the way in when we missed the 2:30 pm timing and was ready with sandwiches on a cold winter morning at 5:30 am.

We had booked Corbett River Creek Resort through a friend who had himself stayed in this property. And true to the feedback shared by him, the location and property was simply excellent. Being an avid lover of nature and driving - I was really happy with the drive, especially from Ramnagar to Marchula, which is where the resort was located. It is a good 40-50 minute drive and the undulating and tranquil drive really relaxes you. It is far away from the madding crowd, especially since Ramnagar is completely choc-a-bloc with hotels, resorts, souvenir shops and other such paraphernalia. We drove in on 26th Dec - the day after Christmas and stayed two nights. The resort was again a great place to unwind and spend some great quality time with the family. Our two children liked it a lot, particularly the younger one - who was really excited with the games room. The place is really quiet, tranquil and great to relax. There is no hustle bustle and there is a certain peace and calm, especially when you move out of the property and walk to the creek flowing next to it. One can also sit in one of the few benches very thoughtfully placed along the periphery of the property and can just spend some quiet time watching the waters run by or hear the birds chirping in the bushes and "bird sanctuary" on the grounds. The grounds or rather the lawns are very well maintained, the landscaping is well done and it is all very neat and clean. The rooms too very good - tidy, clean. The linen, towels, etc. were all in great condition. The food too was quite a decent spread. Well cooked, delicious food. We had overall a pleasant stay. Having shared the good-to-great experiences, let me also put down on record, what really pulled down the chances of getting an Excellent rating. We had booked a full board option - with break-fast, lunch and dinner - including the evening tea - all of it included in the package. And it is here we felt that the Resort cheated us. We had booked for a safari (afternoon one), and when we informed the resort about this, I felt that the attitude of the resort was one that of "let us then ensure that this is a saving for the resort and let us improve our profit margin!!!" I found this rather cheap and petty! We have stayed at many locations, both national and international - and particularly when one has already paid for the food in advance, the kitchen/chef makes it their business to ensure that the guest is having that meal, even if it means that they have to go out of the way. This is the least anyone in the hospitality business is expected to do. For e.g. in an earlier instance similar to this, I remember the restaurant head waiter/manager has come to us and offered to prepare a packed lunch for us to carry. On several flights where one has full service ticket - if one doesn't opt for the meal, the attendants will ensure that you at least have some fruits at the very minimum. On this count, I believe that the Resort committed an "unpardonable" sin, to put it very mildly. Why do I say this? I had pointed out to the waiter when we were having breakfast that we had an afternoon safari and would not be able to make it back for lunch in time. They were least bothered about it, and did not offer to do anything. After that, I had even mentioned this at the reception. And when I did not get a response, I decided to go and speak with the chef directly. I mentioned to Mr. Negi, the head chef, that since we were traveling with kids, if they would be kind enough to at least provide some parathas (which we had for breakfast) or sandwiches as packed lunch, that would help. He agreed and then disappeared to the kitchen. Then before we were leaving for the safari, we waited at the reception, then went to the cafeteria to check, but there was no package for us. We reminded the reception again about this. But even then, there was nothing. Finally, we decided to leave without it as we did not wish to miss the safari. After this, I had complained with the tour operator who had booked the package for us. The next day morning we were leaving. I believe he spoke with the reception staff or manager. Then, I got a call the day we were leaving that did we want a packed lunch. This was then for me, really the limits!! There was no regrets expressed, leave alone any apology. So we too declined and left with our self-respect intact. The food area, leaves a lot to the desired therefore. There is absolutely no creativity or thought into the menu. Same old re-hash of items, especially for high-tea - pakoras, cookies on day 1. Cookies and pakoras on day 2. So much for variety. The fruit and cream, for dessert - had no decent fruits in it. Some canned fruit - which one could not even make out what it was. This was again the case on another meal occasion. I was informed by the tour operator that earlier the service levels were excellent, and maybe now this too is suffering. I noticed that the resort is busy expanding and adding blocks to the existing structure. This is great news!!! However, hardware upgrade and expansion will not help - if the software (here the basic soft skills of customer centricity and hospitality) is absent.
