My association with Jaagar started about an year back. I have visited the place twice and both times has been an amazing experience. It is NOT a hotel. It is a working farm resort. You could simply relax by the pool or in the midst of mango and litchi orchard interspersed with flowering trees like Harshingar (night jasmine), lilies, madhumalti (Rangoon creeper), frangipani and hibiscus among others. with open agricultural fields on one side and thick forest on the other, It has best of both the worlds. Good food and even greater conversations with Mrs. and Mr. Joshi backed by a courteous and attentive team made it a fantastic experience. And yes, it does help when you have had the most amazing tiger sightings both times. During the two visits, I had four tiger sightings. 3 of these were when I was in the jungle for a walk (safe distance away though and with an experienced person to guide me). Never before have I been this lucky as far as sightings are concerned. The highlight for me though was a safari through Jhirna zone. I used to head up to Bijrani before this trip, but this time, went to Jhirna n found a most beautiful, almost surreal/ paradisiacal jungle. It is was an absolute treat. I could have spent the whole day there. Saw a couple of Sambar, red jungle fowl, great hornbill, Oriental pied hornbill and Changeable Hawk Eagle among others.
Best place to get away from the daily hassles and the noise and pollution. Amazing hospitality and very helpful and caring people. The whole property is green with different types of trees and plants, you can just pluck a fruit from anyone of them. Best part is the quiet and peace and also the pool. Great fun. Do not miss the morning nature walks to the adjacent jungle.
My friends and I visited Jaagar over a long weekend in October 2015. Unfortunately the Corbett National Park was closed during the time but it was nonetheless a nice getaway from Delhi. Jaagar is a family run place were the owners are actively involved in the day to day management. This aspect I suppose made the most difference. The ever so sweet couple Mr. and Mrs. Joshi welcomed us and showed us around the property. They gave us several ideas how to best spend our time there. The rooms were cozy and very clean. The staff was very prompt and friendly. The food was a major highlight. We opted for the buffets and they were very nice. The ramja rice and fruit custard completely hit the pallet. There is a games room and cycles available to explore the property. At the end of our trip, Mr. and Mrs. Joshi gave us goodies in the form of fresh fruits and lemons from the resort. It was a very good getaway from Delhi for all of us.
Yes. We did see a tigress twice in a one hour stroll through the adjoining forest. with Anup, the manager at Jaagar. (We were on foot..albeit a safe distance from the majestic animal!!!) It was an amazing experience but this review is not about that at all. We saw a forest teeming with birdlife too but this review is not about that either. Jaagar, is more than just another resort in Corbett. You have a good chance for a tiger sighting, or birding, or experiencing the famous forests at Corbett, but Jaagar has more to offer. It is first a village farm, a working village farm at that, thriving with laden fruit trees, fresh vegetables, an Apiary, a Tullu pump fresh water pool, and truck loads of character. If you travel to stay in your comfort zone or if you travel just to decompress with a few drinks poolside, it may not be the place for you. However, if you travel to create memories and to genuinely experience a place in its true essence - Jaagar Village is the perfect host. And if you travel this side to enjoy much more than an elusive Tiger sighting, it is the perfect place to be at. To me it has the essence of Jim Corbett - farm living, respecting wild life, and a genuineness that comes naturally to the people rooted in this region. Highly recommended!
Defining an experience, especially with nature, is not an easy task. So, without even trying to do so, in simple words our 2 day stay at Jaagar was a splendid and memorable experience. And, for sure we will love to be there many more times in future. Living at Delhi and being a travel lover, we always look for place which can be traveled within about 4 to 5 hours to spend a small weekend. Jaagar is perhaps one of the best places among such locations, provided you love to be in the lap of nature. Spread across 7.5 acres of land, the resort gives you an opportunity to enjoy in and with nature. apart from the Mango, lichi and other trees, you can see large number of birds within the resort area if you are interested. A personal touch in hospitality from each member of Jaagar is overwhelming. Food cooked with vegetables grown in the property itself adds another dimension to the resort. In true sense the resort is an eco-tourism or sustainable tourism destination with all modern facilities at the same time environmental and cultural point of view. Thanks everyone at Jaagar for providing such an excellent tourism experience.
