We stayed at one of the beaver bungalows. They are roomy, nice interior. It was weekend, the place was crammed. You could hear people talking until the early morning hours. Taking a shower proved to be difficult, suddenly the water stopped completly and I was still full of soap.... Beside that everthing else was up to our expectations. Clean, nice staff. The Indian food we had was good (buffett style). The surroundings are very nice and it is easely to make walks into the surroundings. Good birding. Close to Corbett National Park gate. Stayed one night.
Convenient for Corbett national park as is 6 km outside the gates. Fairly modern buildings but does not seem to be maintained. There is a hot water tank in the room which did work but don't spend too long in the shower. We had to fill up the tank in the toilet to flush it otherwise would not flush. We told the hotel but they did not fix it. Pleasant Indian food. Would make omelettes for breakfast. At prompting gave us extra blankets and a hot water bottle at night as it was cold. Our room had a small fan heater which broke and they replaced it the next day. There were a lot of power cuts and no seeming back up systems.
The location of the hotel which is right over the river is just awesome ! We stayed in Elephant Park 1 and 2 and the rooms are big comfortable stone cottages with all modern amenities, and the fact that you can listen to the river flowing below you all the time is an enchanting experience. The hotel staff ,particularly the restaurant staff is extremely courteous and they go out of their way to make you comfortable. I would like to specially mention Pooran Giri who always ensured the best service to all his guests. The food was light and well cooked. Although the hotel is located almost half an hour beyond Corbett town (towards Ranikhet), and hence it is a little inconvenient if you plan to go for an early morning safari, you would also like the place for the scenic beauty and the calmness of the woods. The river can be reached through a 5 minute walk and the road is pretty good. All in all, a wonderful place to relax and rejuvenate yourself. Highly recommended !!!
If you are really for peace and quiet and would like to hear a river flowing by and be surrounded by astonishing greenery, then this is the place for you. we stayed in elephant park 3 & 4 which are spacious rooms with TV, Fridge, tea maker et all. The staff and their service is excellent. Ask puran to serve you. The manager Mr.Edward Thomas and his deputy Mr.Ritesh are excellent in their service and ever smiling attitude. The food for indian plalate is very good. The linen and pillows are comfortable. They arrange permit for entering corbett and jeep which otherwise is difficult. These are stone cottages each seperately located with fire place and was once the British hunting lodges.
We had two cottages, Elephant 3 and 4. My wife, mother and two small girls. I spent the first 2 hours after check in callng the management to set right a host of lacunae. A/c's non functional, intercoms not working, no TV set top box, etc. To their credit they responded promptly but it should have been taken care prior to check in. The two biggest issues here are power outages and insects in the rooms. The power goes atleast once every hour and every night (3) I had to call someone on his cell to start the generator! The insects are magnificient in their variety and diversity but Irather not have them in the room and bathroom! We spent two sleepless nights tracking big spiders crawling all over the wall and floor! The pathways to the main resort building leading from the various cottages are poorly or not lit at all. The lawns and surroundings except aroung the main building are unkempt and neglected. The food was a mixed bag. Good roomservice but very limited availability of range and variety that too highly overpriced. Some beverages were priced double of Max recommended retail prices! Except for the occasional chicken dish no other meats were available. Better stick to a narrow range of Indian items. The location is fine, on the top of a hill on the banks of the Kosi with a scenic cricket field opposite and monkeys fraging across the property. The Den has obviously seen better days and could do with a refurbishment of 20 year old fittings and tightening up of various aspects. The rooms are comfortable and spacious with bds, sofas, coffe tables and dressers, refrigerators, small TVs, cable connections and inadequate window ACs.. The lighting though is extremely poor with very low wattage bulbs used made worse by fluctuating power supply. Not much to do in The Den so carry your essentials of beverages, toiletries, medicines, snacks and lots of books and music. Use trips to nearbye Ramnagar and pre book a safari. The hotel helps with taxi bookings also. No Internet in the rooms though. I'm sure there are better alternatives in Kumeria/Jim Corbet
