I visited Dalhousie from 28-30 December and stayed at this Hotel, The hotel is located just 100-200 meters walk from Gandhi chowk which is like City centre. To Start with Rooms were big, Clean and had basic items, since this hotel is not modern the Furniture, the toilets fixtures were really old, Felt like the last time this hotel was renovated would have been 10-15 years back . But no complaints on that due to its location, Prompt service, Quality of food all on the superior side. Rooms on the ground floor comes with a huge (though sharing) balcony. The Hotel is approachable from Both Satdhara road and Khajjiar road, The Parking provided was also good, The hotel has a lift also which is really helpful since I was travelling with my parents, Overall would recommend this hotel to my friends who plan to visit Dalhousie.
the hotel is well maintained and equipped , with great hospitality , food was good and so were the people at our service.we had an amazing front facing rooms .
Thank you for this amazing service. If happened to be in Dalhousie again ever , will surely go for this hotel
Nice place to stay...parking space is available. ...market is at walking distance...tibbet market is very near to hotel..hotel is in the main area of dalhousie...ambience and amenities in hotel is quite good..
Staff is good and prompt. Service is good. Hotel is average. Rooms are average but nice as compared to others nearby. View is awesome from private balcony that's the plus point they have. Food is WORST.
Having started from Amritsar at 10 AM we reached Dalhousie at about 4 PM. Initial road journey for first 2-3 hours was quite smooth but subsequent travel on ghat (hilly) road, though of less distance took more time as expected with break for tea/snacks etc. It took some time for our driver to locate the hotel where we stayed for 2 days from 14th to 16th October. We had to go upstairs to reach the hotel reception. However, later we came to know that the hotel with 3 floors has a parking on the terrace that opens on the same road but at some distance away on a higher elevation. The reception process was quite prompt and smooth and we were provided with a welcome drink in the room. We preferred tea which took about 20 minutes. Our room was on 2nd floor and to reach there we took a lift with glass showing a great view of valley and hills. The door for exit from the lift is on the opposite side, i.e., towards the corridor and rooms. We liked the room a lot as it was spacious, contained a king size double bed, sofa set, cup boards, television, and all necessary amenities. The bath room was also quite clean and well maintained but no shampoo against the normal provision in many hotels of that category. These rooms appeared to have been recently constructed as a part of extension of the hotel. The main attraction is of course the spacious balcony with 2 plastic chairs giving a fantastic view of the far away chain of hills, trees and valley besides the hotel garden on the ground floor and side balconies. However, due to off season and low occupancy, food was not served in the restaurant but the hotel staff took orders from us one hour in advance to prepare the food of our choice. Next day for the breakfast also there was no buffet and items were to be ordered well in advance to facilitate the preparation. This is is definitely a negative point for the hotel. When we asked for juice or fruit, we were given us cartons of fruity. There was also no choice of cereals and preparation of the items was always taking 30-40 minutes. We had virtually no choice as the breakfast and dinner were included in our package through the travel agent. Of course food provided was tasty and delicious. For lunch we depended on restaurants in the market, just a 5-10 minute downhill walk in Gandhi Chowk (central market) but these are not good and I strongly feel that taking food within the hotel is probably the best option. Probably that is the reason that Hotel Ark Dalhousie is not arranging buffet with plenty of choices. The other negative point is the parking facility in the hotel as after check out on the 3rd morning we had to wait for more than one hour for the wrongly parked cars to be removed before our car parked earlier could be taken out. This resulted in delayed arrival at our next destination. The hotel management must regulate the parking and insist on keeping keys with them at the reception to avoid the inconvenience to the customers. Therefore, despite excellently furnished spacious room (premier category), clean bath room, balcony and a very courteous service by the staff, I am giving the Hotel Ark Dalhousie only a 3-star rating. Regarding Dalhousie, I heard a lot about it but found that it is not so good a choice among the hill stations of Himachal Pradesh. Manali and Simla or even Dharamshala are much better options. Dalhousie is mainly popular for its Public school, where wards of Punjab and HP senior government officials, militatary officers, rich businessmen and politicians study till 12th standard.
