excellent with awesome hospitality
I can say that it is a new property. Location wise not good. It is like a plain chain of hotel with small sized rooms, but with comfortable toilet. Service is alright.
1) Rooms are good and well furnished. View from sun desk is one of the best view of Mt Kanchunga. 2) Food was good but Restaurant service was very poor. For most of the things you have to ask them. I was surprised to see that they dont have enough plates to serve the customers. 3) Room service was not as per what we paid for. It was very slow, had to remind them multiple times. Overall i was expecting a much better service for the price that i paid.
I had stayed in an executive room here. The location was fabulous. My room was very cozy, the food provided was delicious, also the room service was friendly & cooperative. I am glad that I choose this property.
The room was very nice. The hotel staff where very friendly with us.

From reservations till check out an efficient Viceroy team would make you feel very welcome...cheers to that first! The Attic rooms are a treat to yourselves, the Sun Deck view of Kanchenjunga is amazing and the buffet offers you variety on each day of your stay. Mr Ali and Mr Arindham deserves special mention, though the other staff supporting them make you feel at home... Thank you Viceroy team for a memorable Darjeeling break for our family!
Well,it has been a few weeks since we visited this property and stayed for 3 nights. It was our second tryst with Viceroy and frankly,we missed the warmth this time.As a matter of fact, everything was in place, the beautiful attic premium room with the magnificent view of the mountain from even your bed,the tea-coffee maker, the fire place and all other basic amenities but still,we missed something. You cannot really express that in real terms for sure and all we can do is to sense that probably we are losing some personal touch here.I don't know,if we were a little over-expectant this time with our past experience still rich with great hospitality, but perhaps,Viceroy has become more commercial than professional! The food was average,I would say, nothing fancy( You won't find orange juice in your breakfast! Surprise! Since you are visiting a place famous for oranges) And,last but not the least, perhaps, you would need to be a little careful about your personal belongings. We missed something from our room, thought that may be we had misplaced that somehow in our bags, got them searched by their people and didn't find that.Vanished!! And NO explanation offered !!! Probably,I failed to convince them even if I showed them photograph taken from the terrace showing the date and timeline proving that it was there on the date of our arrival. So,the experience was equivocal ,at the best, other than of course, the lingering image on our memory of one of the best views of the Mt Kanchenjungha in Darjeeling..
Very contrary to some of the most recent reviews, we had a great stay at Hotel Viceroy. The attic premium rooms are cozy, with beautiful views of the Kanchenjunga from the balcony. The hotel was quite well kept and the rooms tidy. The arrival and check-in were very smooth too, with absolutely no issues. The only thing that may be slightly inconvenient for some guests might be that the lift isn't situated at the lobby level and that you have to take a short flight of stairs to reach the lobby. It most certainly didn't bother us (we took the stairs all the way up almost always anyway) though. And we have seen how attentive and helpful the staff was for guests who are unable to climb. The staff is EXTREMELY polite, and the manager, Mr. Ali was always available and made sure everything was just perfect for us. The restaurant manager, Mr. Arindham is a man who clearly loves what he does and would converse with guests divulging information about Darjeeling town, its cuisine and anything else the guest might be interested in. If you want to know the recipe to some of his dishes, he will let you know that too! He even specially prepared thukpa for us when we mentioned that we were unable to try it anywhere during our stay. (It was undoubtedly delicious) Politeness seems to be an inherent thing for people in Darjeeling in general, but we were very happy with the hospitality our hotel staff offered to us. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend other people to stay here too. :) Hotel Viceroy, and Mr. Ali and Mr. Arindham in particular, thank you for making our stay in Darjeeling so memorable.
Comfortable stay.. Spatious room with balcony and all types of modern amenities. Early in the morning one can get to see beautiful view of the entire kanchenjungha range. Polite staff Tasty food. What else could someone ask for. Located near mall.
Stayed with 9 other travellers at this centrally located hotel. No off street unloading area from passengers and lift located on 1st floor. Musty smelling restaurant located on Level 1. Food ok but service quaint. I wanted back coffee with cold milk on the side. They brought out a bowl and a spoon for the milk. Internet sporadic and veeery slow. Heaters turned off unless you ask for them to be turned on. Not a recommended establishment. Best feature is their roof top terrace
