I stayed in a standard cottage here. The room was basic, the room service were prompt. A special mention of the food, it was delicious. This is an average property altogether.

This was simply the most incredible hotel. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful. I felt like I was a guest in someone's home and not just a guest in a hotel. The food was incredible. It was really a wonderful experience.

It was a decent two night stay without any issue with regard to the service or arrangements. The management was responsive and room quality and food provision was just perfect. The location was also manageable.

Unusual but very enjoyable! Unusual but very enjoyable!

by Alys S on February 5, 2017

We stayed for 2 nights during a tour of north India. Rooms are situated in different buildings along paths leading away from the main house. None of the grandeur of some other hotels but the beds were comfortable, the room clean, tea/coffee making facilities provided and the shower worked fine, as did the heater which was needed at night. The few staff were great, very attentive and hard-working. There is a huge room in the main house where we all gathered for drinks which created a very convivial atmosphere! We all ate a long table and the food was basic but plentiful and delicious. Good fun all round.

We stayed here for two nights on a tour. The room we had was in the main part at the top of the hotel and was lovely in a faded grandeur sort of way. The view from the window was lovely. The wifi worked after a fashion. Dinner was a fixed menu and was very nice in a Raj/school inner/comfort grub sort of way. The G&T was good. This is a bit out of the way and you need transport to anywhere else. Loved it.

Quiet & Quirky..... and we loved it! Quiet & Quirky..... and we loved it!

This is an ex- maharajah's villa, located quite high up on an off-the-beaten-track area, surrounded by trees. Spacious rooms, which get cool in the evenings (only to be expected at this altitude) but adequate fan heaters are supplied. (switch them on 15 minutes before you get out of bed in the morning!) Serviceable and clean shower & bathroom. Overall, comfortable and enjoyable - and as we had a ground floor room in the "front facing" block, we were able to sit outside in the late afternoon, and enjoy the ambiance (and the monkeys leaping among the trees) with a gin & tonic. In our room, all the plugs, and the TV worked (I note some previous reviewers found differently) , and the beds were very comfortable, and warm (but we did need the extra covers which were supplied). The four male staff looked after us very well, and were very attentive when they needed to be, and left us well alone at other times (which was ideal!) The food was rather better than I thought it would be from a heritage hotel on a mountainside. I really enjoyed the dinners, and they make a great breakfast omelette! All in all, we loved it. Its not a 5 star luxury hotel, but its a real home from home, and we felt very relaxed, & comfortable. HGML

Quirky place - accommodation odd but food and service amazing Quirky place - accommodation odd but food and service amazing

This is the maharajah's place - a few corrugated iron roofed villas on the mountain surrounded by trees. The rooms/villas are not warm (fan heaters supplied), have basic shower/bathrooms and are not that comfortable. The plugs and TV didn't work, but hey.... The four male staff did everything - carried in our luggage, cooked and served very good food for our evening meals and were friendly. Breakfast pretty basic but OK. The maharajah joined us at the end of dinner - he was a delight and great fun. A quirky place but well worth coming to

A quiet property in middle of greens. No shops or restaurants in about 3km radius. Rooms are quite spacious and the staff is super. The food you get here is homecooked food and very basic like dal rice, veggies and chicken but the staff helps you in case you want to pick up food from outside and get it heated here. The view is very nice. Perfect place for people who want their own space and do not wish to be in middle of crowded places. One negative: All the beds are twin beds. If you ask for a king size, it is still two single beds put together. So be prepared for that!
