i was there in march 16 and belive its a great option to stay for seeking great service in a budget. hotel staff is very helpful and good in their services kitchen service also very good. so its a good to stay
we were alloted this hotel at the last day of our journey and we were little afraid about the property as the reviews were not very good. Also, I was travelling with my wife and 1.5 year old son so I was more worried for him. It was really tough to reach there as it is in Bhagsu and located at a very steep height. Room was okay type and food & hospitality was good from the hotel staff. As this was arranged by Make my trip so unhappy Unhappy with the arrangement made by MMT but service provided by Hotel were good enough. There food is really a bonus. i recommend to select this hotel for one day stay only with least expectations.
The place is no doubt little difficult to reach due to its location. But once reached, it feels good as it is located little away from rush of Mcleod Ganj. The price we paid, considering that, the place is value for money. Room size adequate. Not very tidy. Linen below average. Minimalist type of accommodation. Staff too courteous. Food thums up. Service is good. Overall an average place.
Actuly we buked hotel Rock hill through yatra.com for 6 persons and we wanted to go for triund trekking, but a night before my travel i came to know from the concerned person of hotel that my bookings got cancelled. It was night time i have to do packings but instead of that i have to chase yatra.com for night long and next morning also for confirmation of my bukings for any alternate property because by that time rooms were not available anywhere. Yatra.com persons was blaming me that i called the hotel in evening and cancelled my booking and the Hotel concerned person of hotel rockhill was saying that in the evening yatra person called them to cancel my booking and buk that for another person (another customer of yatra.com). Hotel person confirmed it on Conference call with yatra.com also but yatra people was not admitting there fault instead blaming me only. Anyway whoever was faulty but i had to suffer a lot mentally. Next morning around 10a.m they gave me alternate property i.e Hotel Ravine and i had to confirm for this booking anyhow because no rooms were available at that time in any hotel. I will never book through yatra ever and will not suggest anyone...instead book through other booking sites. Once this happned to my Friend's parents also who bukeked through Yatra. Now comes to pros n cons of Hotel ravine. Pros: 1. Hotel staff was friendly and soft spoken. 2. food was average. 3. Near to taxi stand to go to gallu devi temple (furthur to go to triund trekking). 4. very gud tea Cons.: 1. U have to walk upside (200 meters) with ur heavy luggage (very steep) to reach hotel if u r nt having your own vehicle, because no taxi will go upside to drop u there because drivers there are very rigid. 2. Big size insects u will find at first instance just after entering the room (looks like big size mosquitoes). in washroom, balcony, room everywhere. 3. No basic things, like hot water in basin, Toilet paper, bathroom slippers, towels looks like too old and dirty. 4. Smelly blankets.
Our driver took as straight to Hotel Omni in Mcleod Ganj. There were no rooms in Omni hotel so we checked out hotel Ravine just next to it. It is overly priced for 1000/-. After checking with locals, we got to know that this place is actually Bhagsu village and around 3Kms away from Mcleod Ganj and there is not much to do. It is advisable to strictly stay in a hotel near Mcleod Ganj market and not in a hotel at Bhagsu village. Now about the hotel, the room was clean not very lavish though but even we found spider in the room as mentioned by another reviewer. Toilet was kind of clean too but there was no hot water tap in the wash-basin and it was challenging to wash hands with chilled water. The towel provided by the hotel was not so clean and appeared quite old. The hotel is at some height and little far from Bhagsu Temple and waterfall. It would require some efforts to reach the hotel. Now the best part of the hotel - We had a dinner at the hotel and it was really nice. Every single thing we ordered was good in taste and came at a decent price. Thumbs up for the food. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful.
