I have never stayed in a worse place in my entire life. I am unsure how it is even open. After arriving with no where else to go we managed to escape the following morning after a night where we were over charged for bad food and had to stay in an 'apartment' that looked like a 1000 dogs, cats and buffalo lived there without it being cleaned for over 2 decades.
AC did not work
Fan did not work
Cooker - was covered in thick thick grease
Bathrooms - beyond words, we couldn't use the water as we didn't want to be in the brown stained bathroom - not sure how long the stains had been in there.
Ceilings - holes in ???
Lounge - covered in think clumps of hair.... not sure what type.
Above a swamp
Larvae and Mosquitoes blitzed the place with no Coils or spay available from staff (although we asked they said they were getting it - for 30mins - so we ran back to our room)
Large brown stains covered the tables, chairs, plates and cutlery.
Large black damp moss was growing from the roof area.
Pool - tiny, do not believe the super imposed pictures.
Lastly - if you like the sound of Aeroplanes about 100meters above your head - then your in luck!
Do not go near this hotel, it needs to be condemned. It is not fit for human habitation.
We booked this hotel for a week as it looked suitable on the web page. When we arrived at the hotel we were instantly disappointed. We were not welcomed by the staff, who explained that they had debited 70,000 rupees from my account two days before we arrived for our stay, contrary to what was explained on Booking.com.
We were taken to our room which was opposite a stagnant swamp. The accommodation is by far the worst I have ever encountered. The damp and damp smell was so bad I'm surprised we didn't all get pneumonia.
The apartment was filthy, big clumps of hair everywhere, brown stains on the bed, the bathroom was so appalling that we didn't even go in there. The curtains didn't fit, the air conditioning didn't work properly and the kitchen was beyond disgusting.
The restaurant and bar are disgraceful. Absolutely filthy, dirty cutlery, opposite the stagnant swamp. The food was grim and we couldn't sit there as there were millions of mosquitoes and no repellents of any description. The area they wash up and prepare the food is horrifying.
The pool is tiny and didn't look clean, not like the luxury pool advertised on the web page.
We had no choice but to stay there for one night. We have 3 small children and were not prepared to compromise their health so we went to check out the next morning.
We explained the situation to the manager and asked for a refund for the days we were not staying. The manager Anuj explained that a refund is not possible and that's that.
We will be taking legal action against the Devasthali hotel as they have stolen from us. We are also going to contact the police as we believe that it is a scam operation and that the positive reviews are done by staff.
Do not stay here!!!!!
The hotel itself is "ok", I imagine at one time it might have been beautiful. It's very run down, in appearance it looks clean enough but I couldn't help thinking it really needed an overhaul with soap and water! It always smelled very musty and they used some kind of thick smelling deodorizer to try and remedy this. I assume that's why they used it! The staff, all of them are great! The food was very disappointing, and expensive for the quality, plus they add several high taxes on already high prices, so we chose to eat at a restaurant just down the road about 10 minutes walk, the food there was much more satisfying. The pool was pleasant, but the lounges are always water logged! They have numerous taxis parked outside but they are asking double the regular rates for the distances, and with the hotel being so secluded it makes it very exspensive leaving you feeling very isolated. It would helpful if they had motor bikes or scooters to rent which all the previous hotels we've used did. Overall I would not return to this hotel.
This was our second visit to this property and only on our past experience here did we choose to stay again. We failed to notice that this place is no longer with Best Western. We booked the Executive Suite thinking the deal was worth it but it turned out otherwise. Although the Suite was big with a Living Room and Bedroom with balconies and sizeable Bath, it failed to deliver the Executiveness in it. The room flooring was worn-out, the walls were shabby with damp spots showing up. The bathroom mirror was damaged to the extent that one could not even get a good reflection in it. Bedding sheet had a hole in it. Room service was horrible. We had to dial at least 4-5 times on the front desk for any of our requirements. And we got very lame answers about why no one was available on the desk to answer the calls. Our requirement for hand towels and bath towels was reasoned as not available since the laundry guy had not turned up. Basic bath requirements like shower caps had to be procured after multiple calls with the room service person delivering us something else. WiFi was free but went off since there was a problem with the computer. The WiFi password and login had to be changed the next day was something we were not aware and again were unable to use that service. I wonder why the reception didn't bother to update us about the new password and login. I guess that's Devasthali for us now and I am sure the GODs must have left this Valley.....So Adios Devasthali we shall not be visiting you again...
The property is good but the location is odd and transportation is a pain, they don't provide free shuttle to nearby beaches as they have said in official description, taxi offered near hotel is very much expensive and take advantage of the situation. staff is very much helpful and great. We are unhappy with the management of the hotel.
