Nice place, but overpriced Nice place, but overpriced

by ZufuenftEnroute on August 31, 2016

We booked a sea front hut, we didn't get it. We got a nice non see front one instead (no refund). Breakfast (included in the price) was simple but ok. Staff is nice. After being to some shacks in Palolem I can surely say > The place it overpriced.

Head here for a private beach experience! Head here for a private beach experience!

When we were planning our Goa holiday, Palolem came much recommended and when we searched for good beach huts to stay Cafe Blue came recommended from a few friends. We decided on this place to stay and were totally happy with our decision once we landed there. Rooms are neat and spacious. Staff is helpful. food is good, drinks are average. Their set breakfast was good. It's a little further in from the market and the beach entrance which is a big plus I would say. It almost feels like staying on a private beach.. no crowd and most of the people you would find around are foreigners. You walk out of your room and there the beach is. We realized after experiencing the ocean in all nearby beaches that Palolem is a better beach to stay as compared to Patnem where the ocean is more choppy. Palolem is relatively calmer and thus u can have as much ocean time as u want. While at Cafe Blue u could also walk across towards this little beach cafe Sundownen. We did not try it during our stay as we discovered it towards the end of our stay... but the place looked very inviting. For your meals it's a good idea to go to the market and try out the awesome places there. One of the must at places there is Cafe Inn- great place for non Indian food and good drinks.. basic but inviting ambience and great staff.

We stayed at Cafe Blue for a week and we were quite happy with our stay. The attached restaurant is pricier than most other restaurants on the beach but the food on offer is great I still wouldn't rate it higher than the other places though. They also offer an in-house laundry service which was convenient. We had problems with the airconditioning in our hut which they tried to fix but couldn't. They offered to move us to another room on our last day and offered us a large discount because the airconditioning in our hut had been problematic. The manager even helped us with our luggage when we took a cab to the airport on our last day. One huge disadvantage was the WiFi it was either excruciatingly slow or it just didn't work. But that was a problem with all of the other cafes/restaurants on and around the beach. The free WiFi (at least in Palolem) is a lie :-) We liked staying here and would recommend it to anyone staying at Palolem.

Unprofessional. Unprofessional.

We had a confirmed reservation on a busy long weekend for Deluxe A/c beach facing hut. Had communicated with the hotel reservation staff twice before we our stay. A day before our stay we got a cancellation email. Expedia and the hotel staff played the blame game on each other. What i did not like was the staff attitude. The lady i had spoken to twice, said she didn't have any confirmation email for us. Blatant lies. . Would not go back here.

A lil slice of heaven A lil slice of heaven

Cafe blue is located at North side of the beach which is the quieter side. The rooms are adjoining and behind their shack. Waking up to the view of azure sea and sand can be really therapeutic and that can be said if you stay anywhere on the beach but the colour scheme at Cafe blue being blue adds another aesthetic element to it. The rooms are equipped with a powerful a/c, pretty decent beds a clean loo but a below average shower (no pressure and faulty geyser which gave us mild shocks unless unplugged). The only reason why I'm docking a star. The complimentary breakfast was great and all their staff are super sweet and helpful. I would recommend staying at Blue when at palolem and I would be returning soon too!

Demo Trip choose a room at the back – they're significantly cheaper, and the view from the rooms in the front is great, but it can be done without.
