Beach view rooms Beach view rooms

by Zadol on March 20, 2017

Had the most amazing time at cafe blue with my friends... Spent two nights here...rooms are clean n comfy. Beach view was just perfect. Food was not so bad either. Crowd at the beach just perfect, neither so crowded nor so aloof.

6 Night stay in a Beach Front Hut. 6 Night stay in a Beach Front Hut.

by Essexlad on March 18, 2017

The hut was very spacious with great view & a nice big bed with mosquito net. Furniture was lacking though & i feel a desk & a couple of chairs would have made a huge difference, i took a plastic chair from the balcony indoors but ended up putting items on it so still nowhere to sit. That said, i loved the hut, all the staff were lovely & friendly. Quiet end of the beach but easy to walk anywhere. I would consider staying again & think any of the other huts would be nearly as good & maybe a better buy.

We visited Cafe Blue in February last week. Pros: It is situated on the northern end of Palolem beach so it gives a classic view of the crescent shaped beach. The rooms are air conditioned and well maintained. The attached restaurant serves great food. We love the breakfast (especially the continental option). The staff and service is up to the mark and the reception attendant and manager both were very polite. It is an ideal place to laze around, have beach baths, go kayaking and to chill out on a bean bag with beer in you hands. Cons: The drinks are a bit on the costlier side and the rooms do not have a refrigerator. I had requested some decoration in the room. They put flower petals and then later charged Rs. 300 for "flowers". So be careful with any special requests.

Overall a wonderful experience Overall a wonderful experience

We stayed at Cafe Blue, Palolem for 3 nights (after 1 night at a different beach shack on Agonda beach), and it was a great experience. Having tried out different modes of stay at Goa over the years - from Taj Fort Aguada to basic beach shacks - we seem to have found our happy place to be the comparatively expensive beach huts. Cafe Blue fits the bill perfectly, however remember what you are going in for is a beach hut kind of setup and NOT a hotel. So carry your own toothbrush and soap, and you should be fine. I'll jump right into the good, bad and ugly (nothing to report on that front here thankfully!). What works: - Brilliant service - Adi and his guys were wonderful and every request was fulfilled beyond satisfaction. We were with a group of friends and it happened to be our anniversary - there were many "secret plans and surprises" which they helped us pull off, and their enthusiasm and attitude was wonderful. This alone would be reason enough to choose this place, luckily there are many more! - Large rooms and decent-size bathrooms. Each hut comes with it's own front balcony, has air-conditioning, is clean and well-maintained. The bathroom is actually 3 separate areas - shower, basin and WC - which are separated by curtains. - Located RIGHT on the beach, literally 2 steps away from the sea. The location is at the far south end, and hence it is not crowded. However Palolem is not a deserted beach, it has a mix of tourists and locals (which was something we liked), but if you are looking for a very quiet and secluded experience Agonda beach might be a better choice. - Lovely large common-area verandah and bar facing the sea, perfect for lazing in beach chairs or beanbags late into the night - Palolem as a beach is lovely - the sea is relatively calm and perfect for bathing. We took a sunset boat ride to butterfly island and happened to catch a fishing trawler at work as well...lovely experience! There is a "sunset point" a short walk from Cafe Blue which more than lives upto it's name. Every Sunday there is live music at the shack Sai Valentine, right nextdoor. Listening to your favourite numbers sitting on the beach with candlelight, munching on freshly-caught barbecued Kingfish, it really doesn't get better than that. - Food was fresh and delicious - special callout for the Fish fingers, prawns in butter-garlic and chilly prawns. We didn't try any of the 'gravy' items, as we ended up eating in different places (Dropadi on the beach near the main market is recommended for their crab and fish. Avoid the vindaloo though!). What to be aware of: - The approach to the property is slightly difficult. Since it is at one end of the beach, walking along the beach from the main market is one option (15-20 min walk). The other is to walk 5-7 min from the road end, through a path which goes through underbrush. During the day either option is alright, however call them ahead so they can help you with luggage, else it is a long haul. At night it gets a bit tricky - we avoided the road end entry and walked along the beach instead when getting back. In case you are reaching on a late flight, definitely call them ahead to help with the luggage. - The bathroom area does not have a door, it is separated from the room by a curtain. This did not create any problems for us, and the initial fear I had that it might make the room smelly, was unfounded. The water pressure in our shower was low, and the hot/cold did not mix well. However our friends did not face the same problem (or maybe they just showered less who knows!). So that's it really - what you see is very much what you get with this place. And what you get is very much what you would want!

Beach location with great food and hospitality Beach location with great food and hospitality

Palolem beach is a stunning place to spend a few days. Cafe Blue Hotel is located at the quieter end of the beach. The rooms are basic but clean with air con. We were made to feel at home and the food was excellent - especially for vegetarians. The manager and his staff went out of their way to help us enjoy our stay.

Demo Trip Ask for beach facing hut

Demo Trip Beach view great but waves are noisy!

by Jo H on January 17, 2017

Demo Trip There are two cottages that face the beach directly. See if you can get one of them!

by Anne-Marie K on January 13, 2017

Demo Trip Although they have all types of rooms, get one of the two breach-front huts. They're the most popular, so try to book well in advance.

by Christiaan_Boonzaier on December 29, 2016

Demo Trip choose a room at the back – they're significantly cheaper, and the view from the rooms in the front is great, but it can be done without.
