We stayed for 1 night and 2 days at Emerald Palm. Excellent Property, all the staffs were very warm, caring, attentive, food is superb.Very close to the beach, You can just walk down instead of taking a car. We enjoyed the pool party and the next day family time in the swimming pool. We loved the food. The buffet counter had a wide spread and food was cooked very tasty. The chefs and people at the restaurant took personal attention and care. The staffs at the reception area were very supportive too. Overall we loved the warmth of the staffs and it clearly resonated in the entire place. We would love to come back here again . The only minus is that this place does not have a private beach as CM Varca beach resort has. Rest is all outstanding.
Pros: Resort is very well maintained with very good service and well laid out food buffets.
Cons: Expensive food. Resort location is South Goa which is decent...but once you experience North Goa, which is 50 kms away, you want to be there instead...that is where the action lies.
In a nutshell. it is Very Good. Most of the reviews are accurate and I want to add mine too. So here goes:
I had booked as a guest (1 Bedroom Apartment) and it was really nice. The living room was spacious. There were 5 of us (3 adults + 1 Child + 1 Infant). Although, I would have liked the room to be more clean (in terms of the bed linen), But it is NOT a deal breaker by any means. Tea and Coffee is replenished daily as are 2 bottles each in the living room and the bedroom. It has 2 bathrooms which is a blessing and a small fridge + wardrobe + electronic safe and 2 TVs, 1 in each room.
2. For Kids
If you intend to just spend time in the resort you will find a lot to do and laze.
The pool is nice. They also have a baby pool (although 1 guest told me that a couple of tiles were broken. A lifeguard is always around.
The fun zone has a pool table, carom boards, fish pedicure and a section for toddlers (tri cycle, soft toys, balloons and soft toys. It also has a library with a few books. They have other paid activities like renting a bicycle, a sedgeway ride etc which are decent.
They offer complimentary khichdi and milk for kids so that was a BIG boon for me. in fact, I got warm milk even at 2 AM :)
2. For adults
You have the pool, library and a bar or just watch some TV :) I booked a spa session for 2 and it was very nice (going by what my wife and sis in law said). They enjoyed a lot
The beach is a 15 min walk....so it's upto you to either walk it up or rent a bike/hire a taxi. But the resort does arrange for activites like dolphin watching, para sailing, rino, banana rides etc - at a cost. and they don't offer a drop to the beach as part of the deal
Amazing staff and extremely prompt and responsive. Courteous and friendly.
There was a problem with the flush and they sorted it in 10 min.
I asked the bedsheet to be changed twice in a matter of hours and it was done (I had a toddler, so u can imagine)
I asked for milk late in the night and it was delivered
I requested for a late check out and they agreed (More on that later)
I requested for a ground floor room and it was done.
5. Where to eat
Well the food at the resort was very tasty. I chose ala carte and not the buffet. having said that, it is expensive and took ages to come. I had all other meals at the restaurant just outside the main entrance, called Traveler's restaurant. Wide variety of food (I am a vegetarian) and obviously cheap when compared to Club Mahindra.
There is a mini mart about a 5 -7 min walk from the resort (you will encounter it on the way to the beach on your right). You should go there to pick up curd, butter, bread etc or carry it with you (especially if you are traveling with a toddler). Not that the resort doesn't have it, but they charged me INR 150 for a bowl of curd and about INR 170 for 2 cups of Bournvita. However, I don't blame them since the room rates were cheap. They are running a business after all.
6. Getting there
There is a huge line for prepaid taxi at the airport. So either one of you quickly go and stand in the queue or you can take unofficial taxis. They charged me INR 1200 for Non AC. Better still is that you ask the resort to book it for you. You will get an AC pick up at INR 1200.
I have only 1 grouse. The check out time is at 10 and the check in time is at 2. Honestly, it is unfair. Most hotels have check in at 2 and check out at 12. This is the biggest problem here. I know the hotel needs time to clean the room for the next guest, but surely not 4 Hrs!!! This is the biggest grouse. Had it been 12 PM, I wouldn't have needed to request for a late check out.
All in all - it was a nice trip with the family.
Note: I didn't go to North Goa so I cannot comment on the cost of the taxi for that.
This is the first time in many years that we took my entire family including my Mom , Dad and brother along with my hubby and kids for a vacation. We have been to Emeralds before but i still think it is worth revisiting. The atmosphere and the staff are the BEST. Our room was very close to the pool and it was a lovely ground floor 1 BR room.
This place is a blend of archaic portugal and a modern ambiance. This vast and lovely property is again a quintessential example of a Club Mahindra property, whose sole purpose is to provide an excellent holiday retreat to us. We were checked into a 1 BR apartment, which is quite big, well-maintained bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes, providing ample space for a small family holiday. The musical shows in the lobby were every entertaining. What best to celebrate Christmas than goa!! The food is too good and the buffet spread is great. Staff is very courteous and polite. Lot of activities for kids @ the Fun Zone as well. The beach is about 15 mins walk from the resort. Loved to go back to this place and spend more days, as we could manage to get just 1 day stay here.
