Stay in gypsy hostel.
by Nowhereishika on
I couldn't find a better place than this. I had an amazing experience. The interior, the staff, the management everything is so perfect. I can stay there for my whole life. This made my goa trip so wonderful. Whenever I come back to goa, I will not even think about an another place to stay.
You don't feel that you are alone here

I enjoyed every bit of my stay and though the check-in was at 1pm they were courtious enough to lemme in by like 10am.
Cats are super friendly over here, when in anjuna next time I would definitely book at gypsy's.
Thanks moon for being so good to me.

Good and comfortable stay in Gypsy's hostel. The staffs are really good and friendly. The only bit of drawback is that the hostel is 20 minutes away (by walk) from Anjuna beach. So renting a bike would be recommended if you stay at Gypsy's hostel.
Worst hostel experience

There is NOTHING GYPSY about gypsy hostel and the people there are as well. Don't fall for the name. The stay is affordable. And that's the only good thing about it. PLEASE take your time to read this to full and you won't regret it.
CHEP STAY. BAD WASTE MANAGEMENT. UNTIDY. NO MANNERS. NOT RESPONSIBLE. UNFAIR PRICES AND FINES.
I have been traveling all over India for past one year and stayed mostly in hostels and this was the worst experience.
The place is UNTIDY, though they sweep everyday ... The main attraction is a stinking kitchen. They have a BIG WASTE basket (The kind we see in parks and restaurants) under the sink. And that was full, leaking and they have managed to accumulate that pile of food waste for a long time. I stayed there for two days and the basket was still there.
And Don't eat from there (Obviously). Not because the food is bad. They have a good chef. Probably the only person worthful there. He makes very good homely food. But the rates will kill you. Just for rice, dal curry and a sabji they charge you 120. NOT COOL BRO. And you have to wash your dishes or you will be FINED. I mean, it's ok to wash your dishes if you feel like home and you have a friendly atmosphere. Not where they charge you more and are rude to you at the same time.
NO MANNERS. I was having food in the common area, one of the managers who manages the food section was counting the meals I had and asking me to pay . And I felt like stop eating. They charge you for self cooking. I made a sugarless black tea in the morning and they charged me 50. Even that is fine. But talking like "We don't want other people to use our things. Or you should bring your own things to cook and we will only charge you for the gas" while someone is eating is very rude. What kind of a GYPSY way is that.
NOT RESPONSIBLE. They don't allow you to wash your cloths in the hostel (or you'll be FINED) and they INSIST you to give it for laundry and they have an arrangement. They charge you 10/cloths. But that is not a proper laundry. They machine wash your cloths without any segregation and knowledge of cloths. I gave my cloths and I got it back and all of them were ruined. All my dark cloths had white fabric dust and all my white cloths had colour spreads from other cloths. My white shirt is now pink. I practice minimalism and those were the only cloths I had. And the response from the manager was like "if you where expecting a sorry from the laundry lady, i shall tell you that instead!" It made me feel like I was just creating a scene to satisfy my ego.. Consumeristic people does not understand the cost of minimalism.
SO MANY RULES and no responsibility.
They have an in house bar where they charge 1:3 and they will charge you extra 100 if you bring drinks from outside.
They have small music parties and they are good. The place is at a walkable distance from Anjuna beach and the bus stop. Bathrooms and toilets are attached and fine. They only have dorms (AC/ and non A/C). There is no network coverage. They have wifi but that is also not proper. No refunds for early check outs.
Not all people travel for smoke, drink and chill.
