Good hotel with standard amenities
by nisarg_rajvanshi on
A good hotel having traditional architecture compared to the new age hotels. It still has that traditional lock and key system along with window AC. You won't get any toiletries other than a small soap (4 rupee one) and 1 rupee wala shampoo sachet.Yes, they provide small bottles of moisturizer and talcum powder, but that is not of high importance to most of us. No locker or mini bar available in the room. Breakfast was of average quality. Room Service was good, but don't surprise if no one picks up your call after 10 pm. Calangute beach is around 850 meters on the opposite side of road. Overall, it will match your expectations but will fail to delight you!

I stayed here for five nights in the month of January 2020. It was a pleasant stay. Services rendered by staff of Housekeeping as well as Restaurant were with warmth and humility. Staff at reception were as usual professional and customer friendly. They were ready to support whenever required. Since my stay was during peak season, the proper service given by the staff made my stay awesome. My appreciation to all staff members of this resort.
Good value for money ... basic but functional

Stayed here 10 years ago and enjoyed my stay so returned. Rooms are basic but functional and plenty of space. Bathroom, bedroom, lounge with tv and kitchenette with sink and fridge. Advised the block I was in A4 (rooms 401-412) had been refurbished and the decor was ok and mattresses comfortable. Bedding was 1000 wash white but clean and bedding/towels were changed daily with the room clean. You get the odd mosquito/midge in the room so take some knock-down spray. The room was close to reception so you got the odd bit of noise from the kitchens first thing and drunks returning last thing but this is offset by being close to all amenities. The bedroom had an a/c unit at no extra cost.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Wi-fi available in reception area only (when working) and code changes daily ... you might get a signal if your room overlooks the reception area. A safe is available free of charge in the front office you just need to supply your own padlock (38mm size seemed sufficient).
7 pools throughout the site. Main pool by reception gets little sun and the water is a bit chilly. Suggest using the one just off the main road opposite the Engineer's Office where you will also find the Housekeeping Office. For a 100Rp deposit (roughly a 1) you can get a towel from housekeeping for use at the pool or beach and exchange it as many times you like. At the end of your holiday hand the towel back for return of your deposit. This pool gets plenty of sun and tends to be a bit short of sunbeds (together with selfish people who "towel and book" reserve them and then never show up all day!!). If you ask housekeeping they will bring you a sunbed from another pool ... the service is excellent.
I took the breakfast option that included the Goan breakfast (curry, rice, bread, chutney), cereals, toast/jam, omelette/fried egg counter, tea/coffee/fruit juice. No reason to leave hungry. Restaurant does nice food and is a little underused but offers some options on 24 hour room service (dial 4000 or 5000) from the room.
If you have the misfortune of needing medical attention then i would suggest the Bosio Hospital nearby and avoid the Primary Care Centre. If it is just an upset stomach turn left out of the hotel down to the main road and turn right ... there is a pharmacy before Newton's supermarket ... excellent service with good English and very cheap.
I used "Wincy" at the taxi rank opposite the hotel reception for day trips and my return to the airport. His prices were very competitive (1500Rs to return to the airport). He is on WhatsApp +91 98236 87723 just add to contacts and give him a week or so notice if you want collecting from the airport. He agreed to me sharing his details.
Enjoy your stay

Stayed here 3 times and we love it. The staff are really friendly and helpful, rooms are great. We have the Ambassador Suite, two bedrooms both with en suite, kitchen area, and big lounge. Fans and a/c units keep you cool. The room boys are very good, breakfast bar is super, whatever you want and as much as you like. Far enough from the main road but close enough to the beach, bars, and restaurants. Newtons supermarket just up the road. Adjacent to Bosco, nearly next door, who changes your money fairly and safely and carries essentials like water, sun creams, snacks etc and a library. Having stayed in many different hotels in Candolim/Calangute over the years this is the best.
