It was a bit of a shock to arrive at 2am to walk up a dirty rough track (road) only to find the gates locked. One of our party had to climb over the fence to get the attention of staff inside - there was a man in the hut but he'd fallen asleep. Once we got in the staff we're very attentive. The rooms are basic but clean. The toilet/shower room is big but the shower head wasn't very efficient. The separate kitchen had a wardrobe and chairs and a well stocked fridge at reasonable prices. We had a balcony overlooking the pool. There were ceiling fans in the kitchen and bedroom and an air conditioner in the bedroom which is old and very noisy. We couldn't sleep with it on but cooled the room before bedtime and had the fan on while sleeping. The beds are very firm and super king size. The food was very good - there is a big choice for breakfast and as much as you can eat. We had dinner at the hotel a number of times - the barbecues are excellent as are many of the Indian dishes. The waiters and kitchen staff gave exceptionally good service. We used the laundry service which was also very good - gave the bag to the cleaner in the morning and it was washed and ironed by the next afternoon at a very reasonable price. We were able to come home with one case of clean clothing. The pool is in the shade most of the day, making the water very cold and there aren't many sun beds. The location is quite good as there are many shops and restaurants nearby and the beach is within 10-15 minutes walk away. There was entertainment on 4 of the nights we were st the hotel, most acts were very good and entertaining. To summerise I would say this hotel is dated but has adequate facilities with very good staff, delicious food and good entertainment (on some days) which I would recommend as value for the money.

We were really looking forward to our stay here this year as it was a return visit . We stayed in 203 and again it is India so you do accept a lower standard . Sadly it wasn't as good as last year . The towels were frayed and threadbare most days and not as clean as last year . The sheets were torn and marked in places . The ceiling in the bathroom was covered in mould (damp ) again I know it's India , but the standards are lower than before . Although general cleanliness is good . The food at the hotel has improved but sadly the service has also declined considerably Charlie has left this has certainly left a big hole in their level of service . The waiting staff seemed very reluctant to serve you and tend to hold back . Sahajahn was good and willing to say hello . Krishna I believe the head waiter very rarely spoke . He dealt with only customers he wanted to and ignored the rest . It was regular to see staff standing at the bar on their phones after the breakfast rush . The hotel was busy sunbeds were not available as they were reserved every morning . You occasionally got one after 3 pm but there were no pool towels . One occasion I was told there are no towels and the room man shrugged his shoulders and walked off . I had to ask a waiter if he could ask for bathroom towels instead . They morning we were leaving we paid our bill for the mini bar etc for our stay . We ordered a case of water and beer when we got there. The second week we bought water from outside as they had stopped filling up the mini bar for the last 6 days of our stay . When we were about to leave they tried to charge us again for water and soft drinks and beer , but we had paid that on our last morning .We explained the fridge had not been topped up but we paid for 2 bottles of beer as we had given some to staff thinking they were ours as we were leaving . We refused to pay for other drinks as this was not our error . Sadly this just killed any affection we had left for this hotel . If you use the mini bar track what you use and ask them to refill daily if they don't . The staff next day just take it for granted you have consumed the drinks a second day , so you will be charged again . Due to the decline we looked at other hotels for return visit next year and surprisingly found plenty with a much higher standard and lower cost . So we will not be returning to the horizon . Due to this I wouldn't recommend it again .

This is the biggest "holiday -spoiler" you can find in Calangute area. Extremely pathetic attitude of staffs making you feel like being beggar!! They have managed somehow these internet reviews and search engines to show only rosy things about their resort, however things have extremely deteriorated in past few years. I had stayed in this hotel a few years back and it was really well managed. Nowadays, they are managing their hotel only on "Internet". A big scam of fooling people to their resort by these fraudulent people. I wish i had time so that could have filed an FIR against these people in GOA... Many hotels around that area you can easily find, please STAY AWAY from this hotel if you wish to enjoy your stay in Goa.

We have been going to this hotel since is was built & it continues to go from strength to strength. Its not a flashy hotel, just straight forward clean accommodation, a good pool area, great food & lovely staff to look after you. Will be back again in 2018!

My wife and myself stayed at the Horizon Hotel, Calangute for two weeks in January 2017.We had never been to India before so went with friends who have been here numerous times before to show us the ropes.The hotel is just off a very busy main road but around the pool all is tranquil.The rooms are fairly basic but are very clean.A room boy cleans and leaves fresh towels daily,and will restock your fridge as well.The staff are all, without exception, eager to please and are a real credit to the hotel.We ate here quite a few times during the day as well as breakfast.The food is of a very good standard, although breakfast is quite basic but tasty.We also had a meal from the resteraunt at night and it was very good indeed.The hotel has both Indian and European guests so I think this meant the local dishes were of a very high standard, we really could not fault this hotel at all,there are even a couple of taxis usually parked outside to take you out and about for not a lot of money.All in all we had a fantastic holiday,and will return.
