It is seriously a joke on the star category. Stinky rooms, broken cupboards, no lock on windows, cockroaches walking on beds, cigarette burnt bedsheets, primitive washroom, rough attitude of staffs, no hot water facility in room.
Final say from my side, this hotel is even not suitable for single travellers leave alone families.
Feels like home, everything is good. Staff is very polite and helpful. Food is delicious (punjabi taste). I love to stay here, nice view outside from my window.
You will get all u need, clean bedsheet, clean towel, clean washroom, working AC, LCD.
the hotel is far away from main city. when we reached, the hotel had been freshly painted. however the doors and other furniture looked ancient and creaky. the bathrooms were dirty and needed major repairs.we had to ask several times for towels and water and glasses. No soap was given. we had a balcony view. however, from the balcony i could see hundreds of empty beer bottles piled up.
for the price that we paid, we could have lived in a decent hotel. only saving grace was the food which was good. however not all was available. Completely avoidable.
The special Occasion , made us to visit Mardol, Goa to witness Swarna Shikhara Kalash & Pindikotsava Function. Due to the heavy Rush In The Temple, we stayed in Hotel Royal Punjab. Though we had visited for lunch and dinner, we stayed here for the first time. My friends suggested me this hotel.
Its just 100 yards away from the main road, look is OK,
Front office staff was nice man, after bargaining, he offered us double a.c. room at a reasonable price. We stayed here for for two days and three nights. The tariff was without breakfast and with wifi facility.
On entering the room, were shocked to see clean nicely decorated room. Air conditioner was excellent. Wash room was really clean with 24 hours hot water.
We two with our grand daughter(7 years old) enjoyed our stay.
Coming to food, a small restaurant in the cellar. Excellent food, reasonable price. To name a few, we tried Naan, Roti, Veg Fried Rice, Veg noodle, Veg Kadai, Fresh cashew nut oil roasted, all were excellent, Though the restaurant was full, the food was delivered with in minutes,
Regarding the bed, a king size cot with six inches mattress forced us to sleep without any problem.
The drawback is no South Indian break fast is available, Only bread butter jam etc., are available that too after eight thirty in the morning. Since we had our break fast in the temple, we over come this break fast problem.
Overall a good hotel and budget friendly with 3 star facilities.
I am visiting Ponda due to business and was fed up of Sungrace, Sun Inn and their highly unprofessional attitude. Reading positive reviews here, i thought of trying Royal Punjab this time. And this place really proved to be a hidden gem.
Check In was through and hardly took a minute. The front office manager dint ask to deposit any advance without which it was IMPOSSIBLE to check in at SunGrace & SunInn. He dint even ask for half day extra rent for checking inn at 10 AM without which, it was again IMPOSSIBLE to check inn at SunGrace & SunInn.
Room was quite big, neat and clean. bathroom was small as compared to the size of the room. they have installed seperate geysers in all bathrooms so no need to waste water by leaving the tap open and just waiting and waiting and waiting for the hotel water to come. Air Conditioning was very effective. Bed was comfortable. Linen was clean. The only thing which needs improvement was the blanket. Only a soap provided along with a towel. But considering the room rent they are charging, thats ok.
Room service was very efficient. whatever ordered, dint take more then 10-12 minutes to serve. and the food was very very very tasty. they have a small restaurant and bar in the basement.
PROS : big and clean room, comfy bed, tasty food, decent price, quiet and FREE WIFI
CONS : small bathroom, on the outskirts of city - you cant go back to city until you have your own vehicle. but in a small town like ponda, there is hardly anything, to go out in the night.
