Though Ponda is a very relegious place this hotel stands apart from others is that this one is the only 3 Star hotel in Ponda.Complimentary Breakfashould have a better spread .though the Staff(little trained) are polite in their attitude & behaviour. Hats off to them.... The Hotel should have a FOAM SOAP arrangement for Bath Tub users as generarally followed by other 3 Star Hotels

Room was clean but things are broken... bathroom fittings and wardrobe was broken. Food was good. But limited breakfast items on order no buffet. No wifi.... No fan... only AC and that was not effective No hot water in bathroom... no toiletries... Towels were worn out.... yellowish in color lighting in room was dull. Troublesome experience...

We were to spend a night in Ponda as part of our trip to Goa but decided to look around a few hotels & then book. We found Hotel Shakti Palace as one of the better hotels around as far as cleanliness, decor, facilities & amenities go - nothing fancy. Most guests stay here if they have business in the area or are visiting the famous Mangueshi, Shantadurga temples. Having said that, the first thing that scores them a minus is the reception or the lack of it. The front desk was an ordeal. As a married couple, we both were asked to produce original id's. Now with one id kept as deposit at the 2 wheeler rental shop, it was a job to find another 'permissible' id. Anyway, after being rudely shown to our room (Economy), we had to call house-keeping to 1) deodorize the room, 2) start the water pump as it ran out in between bath. The room itself was so crammed that one of us had to climb the bed or get into the loo, everytime the other wanted to pass by. The aircon thankfully worked well & the cable connection was uninterrupted. Do visit Cafe Bhosale next door for some yummy food as the restaurant also didn't look that great. Sahakari Farms spice plantation closeby was 2 hours of time well spent (Rs.400 per person entry fee includes a short tour of the plantation & lunch).

I originally booked this hotel for 21 nights, but only lasted 24 hours there. The room itself appeared clean, and the bathroom was all European fittings, however there was no hot water and the toilet did not flush. The staff did very little to solve this and after me getting very angry they finally turned on a water tank on the roof- which although did not produce hot water, did make water drip through the bathroom light fittings. The air conditioning unit leaked water all down the wall (onto my pillow). The man, who spent a lot of time behind the reception desk, could not have cared less. Even when I told him I was checking out! If you enjoy cold showers, smelly toilets, damp walls and mattresses and hostile staff, then I recommend the Shakti Palace.
