Luxurious with cons Luxurious with cons

by Gl0balDesi on February 23, 2017

It is a lovely place no doubt about it. Very tastefully done cottages havingold time furniture giving it a very rustic heritage look. The room and bathrooms are huge. The evrions are really in the lap of nature and luxury at the same time. Very green with huge coconut trees and landscaped grounds. Hammock outside every cottage. khadi soaps in the bathroom with hot water facility. The staff did contact us beforehand to know of our arrival time. Best part was we did not have to pay anything in advance. In fact they charged us only at the time of checkout. Nice pristine uncrowded beach. Not commercial at all. Do not expect lot of water sports activities. The complementary breakfast is the icing on the cake. So worth it. The place did have some cons however... 1. No proper closet in the room. they had one tiny one and it already had their spare bedding stuff. 2. Forced to have bottled water which we are strictly against. They are promoting eco tourism so expect them to be more considerate about the growing menace of plastic garbage. 3. Loud music on nearby properties. Can be an earful. 4. Complementary high tea is a tease. Very limited items are included. 5. Very far from the airport and also other happening areas. Strictly for the solitude lovers. 6. We were rushed out on our last day as some other guests wanted our room for some reason. We had talked beforehand about a late checkout and had received confirmation for same so it came as a rude shocker. Did not like that. Overall good stay. Will recommend.

Comfortable cottages, lovely grounds, great restaurant, however..... Comfortable cottages, lovely grounds, great restaurant, however.....

A group of 5 stayed at Leela Cottages.. very comfortable and the first beach hut hotel complex we had stayed in which actually had hot water.. The grounds are just beautiful and the huts are attractive, with Indian statues placed everywhere.. in another traveller review they pointed out the noise coming from local clubs.. this is a problem, but not one Leela can do anything about.. pounding bass all night on two nights of our 4 night stay.. Also beware the bathrooms and the tiling.. lethal for slipping over.. The restaurant Elevar is lovely, the food good.. but if you order drinks, specify what drink you want.. we ordered local gin for our gin and tonics and were charged for Bombay Sapphire which was much more expensive. This was a problem when coming to pay. This sounds a bit negative, but we did have a lovely stay.. and you can always sleep on the beach..

Beautiful Property with an almost Exclusive Beach Beautiful Property with an almost Exclusive Beach

by Karishma K on February 14, 2017

I had visited the Leela Cottages while staying elsewhere in Goa on my last trip for a meal at Elevar. I had loved the walk from the entrance gate to the restaurant and then to the beach and had resolved to stay here on my next trip, which I did! We booked 4 cottages here for 4 nights in Feb this year. Each cottage appears slightly different from the others. The rooms are well furnished and each cottage has an exclusive hammock hung from the trees right in front of it. There is no swimming pool in the property, but who needs one when there is a huge sea right in front. The rooms do not have a direct view to the sea but it is just a short walk down to the beach. We enjoyed some beautiful sunsets on the Ashwem beach which is by far the cleanest beach in Goa and has the most decent crowd in all of North and South Goa. I completely enjoyed running on the beach which is a straight stretch of about 5 kms. Olive Ridley turtles have their nesting ground on the adjoining beach - Morjim. The food served at Elevar and Maa is pretty decent although we all found the breakfast extremely monotonous and it lacked much choice. There is a very nice spa within the property and I could get some really relaxing massages done there. The only negatives I thought were that the cupboard space in the rooms was insufficient, the toilet floor was extremely slippery, there were to many level differences in the rooms and the toilet, and they did not provide decent toiletries. All in all, we had a great time and would definitely consider staying here again.

Really Nice property, loved the restaurant and its food Really Nice property, loved the restaurant and its food

Its a really nice properties, the cottages are nice, big and comfortable. However, the best thing about the Leela Cottages is its restaurant hands down. In terms of view, I am sure a number of restaurants offer similar views, however the food at the restaurant is totally worth staying here.

Far from the madding crowd !! Far from the madding crowd !!

A typical boutique beach resort property with a dozen or so cottages located bang on Ashwem beach. A really nice & quite atmosphere with good food (could have more variety) in the beach front restaurant is available at certain times only. They have 4 categories of room. The grand suites and the Grand rooms are equipped with TV's and the Luxury & Deluxe cottages are rustic in looks and furniture but roomy and very comfortable. "Kancha" the housekeeping lad is a great help and is always willing to help. Expect for a few basic infrastructure setbacks the resort is highly recommended. It also houses an in house spa. However there is no room service available except on extra payment. The resort is pet friendly and welcomes dogs. Make it a point to stay there if you are looking for solitude and quite. You wont find no boisterous crowds of tourists nor beach shacks restaurants or water sports.
