A lovely hotel property with beach front setting welcomes you with great ambience and plush greenery. We had a small issue trying to book on line but arrived without being able to book and had help off reception staff which were really helpful to accommodate our requests. Thank you for dealing with this Peter - Randolf and Dipti ! Very helpful
Room was excellent, very clean with all amenities and the bathroom is big and clean. I love the toiletries they provide too :)
Breakfast is buffet style, wonderful and includes lots of items of very good quality and nice indoor or outdoor area to enjoy. The staff in the restaurant are helpful and friendly. Swimming pool is nice size and well maintained with sunbeds and seating area. The major advantage is the beach, just a short stroll through the hotel property and you are there! There are enough shacks available with decent food and beverages or the hotel have there own beach front bar serving food and drinks.
This is our fourth stay and certainly the best for us whilst here traveling in Goa and this is our 17th year ! Will certainly be returning and highly recommend to anyone wanting a comfortable and relaxing stay in Goa
Marquis Beach Resort is a 3 star resort that delivers a 4 star experience. Plus points are: First; The location which is right on Candolim Beach. The hotel has a private sun deck and beach side bar and restaurant. The shower and rest rooms are right next to the deck area so if relaxing by the beach side is your aim, this hotel is perfect. And second ; There are many shacks/restaurants a few minutes walk down the beach from the hotel. 2 of the best are Calamari & Palms and Sands which are literally next door. The main road is a 3 minute walk from the hotel which is again lined with lots of roadside stalls and stores, supermarkets, restaurants, pubs etc...
We found the housekeeping staff polite, ever helpful and they reciprocated our warmth and friendliness.
We found our room and bathroom clean and tidy everyday and toiletries amply replaced. Extra towels, pillows and sheets were given promptly on request. A morning newspaper was delivered everyday as well.
The room has a kettle, tea and coffee and minibar, room service was prompt and food ordered was excellent.
Beach towels are also provided from the poolside.
The only minus point if at all is the fact that the buffet breakfast is vegetarian except for eggs. The selection of Indian veg breakfast items is good, there are eggs to order, cereal, breads/toast, jam, butter, juice, tea coffee, cake/muffins and fruit. If you're a sausage/ham or bacon person that's not there! It would have been nice to see some cold cuts and good cheese out.
The resort is child friendly and so, some might find the hotel noisy at times... But that's on us, the guests! We need to be considerate to others when talking in corridors and control our children. Screaming kids and loud conversations are all part and parcel of a holiday resort, but it doesn't hurt to be considerate to your fellow guests, especially if you have kids or are a large group of friends.
I would definitely stay at the Marquis again... However if you're going to compare it to the Taj... Then stay at the Taj! Thank you to all the staff at the Marquis who made our Anniversary and Christmas very special and memorable. We had a fabulous time! See you again next year!
We were 2 families and recently stayed at Marquis to welcome 2018. I am a local and have stayed at Taj, Kenilworth and various resorts of varying ratings in Goa. Deluxe rooms here are nowhere near deluxe and no different from standard room. All Rooms are small and cramped and a very bad odor on arrival was a let down.
The property is beautiful otherwise with landscaped gardens and direct access to the beach. The Sun beds and pool are well maintained and a bar and grill bang on the beach is interesting. There are other shacks on the beach if you want to escape from the expensive marquis restaurant. Overall good property but not worth the price paid of rs 10000/night . I would ideally expect to pay only around rs 5000/night for these rooms compared to other 3 star resorts in Goa.
Breakfast buffet had limited choices but was okay.
The compulsory NYE package was alreadyoverpriced at Rs 6000/head. We had 4 non drinkers in the family so we expected at least good food for them for this price. But the veg snacks served during the party were extremely disappointing (cold sandwich, cold Spring roll and a half done Paneer tikka). Even the chat counter served horrible tasting snacks. Entertainment was only 3 make African dancers for half hour, and DJ. Eventually the much awaited buffet dinner had very limited choices. Midnight fireworks were promised but the resort completely cheated us in that regard and a laughable amount of fireworks were arranged only to fool their guests (5 mins). Had to watch fireworks on the beach done by other shacks which were awesome compared to this resort. Don't ruin your precious moments here and waste your money.
They closed down everything on the 1st early, and I fought with them as I wanted a good evening on the 1st day of the new year with family. They said they were short staffed after a hectic nye celebration. I was furious because after last night's disappointment, I wanted to at least enjoy first day of the year by the beach having dinner with family, but they said they were closing. After fighting with management, they eventually agreed to serve us did at the back. The food was good.
Overall very disappointing stay, won't recommend for this price. Service and staff were rude and passed the buck for every request to other teams.
Several resorts near calangute/Baga are much cheaper and provide much better value. If you can shell out some extra money, stay at Kenilworth for an excellent stay and superb service. while Marquis can't deliver on any front even though they are sitting on a beautiful beach property.
I would recommend this to any one pleasant staff nothing too much trouble, food good its on the beech great location
rooms a little small but ok to keep the room on was a little expensive taxie service out side was ok
Marquis beach resort is a beautiful property located on candolim Beach. It has got one of the best beach views and the beach is clean and well maintained. Rooms are little old fashioned but clean and cozy. The food here tasty but little pricy, also they have some tasty veg food options. Place is ideal for family vacation to chill. Also the bar near the beach is ideal for sun downer. Hospitality is good.
