Decent place in calanagute Decent place in calanagute

by Balaji1706 on January 12, 2017

It was a pleasant stay at Mira. Prefer the rooms near the pool which are far superior than the other ones. Everything is in walk-able distance to the market, beach etc. Must improve on the complimentary breakfast option which suits foreigners not indians.

not great not great

AC didnt work, Very very noisy, barking dogs, traffic, people shouting etc.., Very dirty in rooms, changed room 3 times. Staff tried to do their best to help, Situated on a busy loud road, Woken up every morning at 5am by barking dogs, Car horns beeping loudly between 7am till 2am non stop every day. Obviously a low low budget hotel but that should be noted, Thomas Cook should be ashamed to book people into this hotel.

awful awful

awful awful

by Steven G on December 17, 2016

I was booked into this hotel on the 5th December 2016 for a week. I was told by Thomas Cook it was a 3 star hotel in a lovely location with beautiful beaches. Please please do not book into this hotel. My partner and I walked into some sort of a lobby area filthy dirty, checked in then taken to our room which had padlocks on and lizards on door frame. The bathroom had no bath or shower, there was some sort of a small tap with a bucket underneath it. We literally walked straight back to lobby area after passing a swimming pool that was more of a cesspit and rats running in corridor. When we got to the lobby the two guys that worked there were asleep on the floor. We walked straight across the road into citrus hotel to see if they had a spare room which fortunately they did. On speaking to Thomas Cook rep lloyd he said unfortunately people keep going to the mira hotel year after year as they get it extremely cheap by booking direct for the following year. and so write good reviews. We were the sixth couple that week to walk straight out of that hotel. Lloyd put in a complaint for us immediately to try and get this sorted. I have travelled widely and can hand on heart say I have never seen a hotel so filthy and basic, just absolutely terrible it really was. After paying just under two thousand pound for this hotel we were gutted to see what Thomas Cook had recommended for us. The area itself was awful. I know these people live totally different to us and bless them they make the most of what they have, very friendly people but just plain awful filthy area. The beach in calangute was terrible, full of dogs peeing everywhere,I watched dogs peeing over people's bags and children's bucket and spades. Cows are sacred in goa so roam freely which is nice to see but not on the beach competing with the dogs on how much faeces they can leave on there. Please strongly take in my review as this was one awful hotel and area ,fortunately we were able to stay in the citrus hotel for the rest of the week, this hotel was lovely.

A good place to stay for those who have a budget of 600 per guest. Rooms are spacious. Located 600 meters to main entry of Calangute beach. Food must be ordered from outside as there is no in house kitchen. Those travelling from North India and Western India can have good quality food near Calangute beach entry. Best season to visit is winters. You can leave hotel anytime but if want to leave late night then better settle expenses by 9 PM as receptionist and other admin staff do not works in night at this hotel.
