We stayed here for a few days in Oct 2014. A peaceful place to relax alongside the river Talpona. The price offered was very reasonable. We payed Rs. 1200/- per night for a cottage which was a non-AC. There is a small garden in front of the cottage which is neatly maintained and you can find a few varieties of flowers and also birds chirping in the mornings. The classic Galjibagh beach is close by for people who love peace and quiet.
Stayed here for two weeks over the Christmas period, arrived very early in morning, no one about, but managed to find owr room in a set of buildings along side the main house, door was open so we lay down for awhile. Priyesh the manager arrived shortly after and was very helpful. The room is basic with a attached shower and toilet. There was no hot water but this was being installed as we were leaving. The location is lovely and we were right on the estuary where the sea met the river. Itis a very quiet location and ideal for those who want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Patnem and Palolem. Wifi is available but you would have to sit outside the main house to connect. Priyesh is very helpful and we also got our washing done by his mum who was very nice. Slight drawback is the restaurants were not great on Talpona but we did get a very cheap moped hired from Priyesh . This meant we could go over to the main beaches of Agonda, and Patnem where the food is great. We have travelled to India many times and it seems to be getting more expensive but still cheap compared to Thailand. Overall an enjoyable stay and thanks to Priyesh and his mum.
Stayed here for 2 days from the 31st Dec 2014 to 02 Jan 2015. Rio de Talpona is owned and run by Priyesh who honorably offered us very affordable and non-inflated holiday season rates. The lawn and the rooms are very well maintained and extremely clean. Guests are treated to an amazing view of the river Talpona and the nearby beach. The place is very quiet and serene occasionally accompanied by the sound of rustling leaves and the distant waves. The locals are very kind and friendly. Priyesh is an excellent host who is always eager to help. He is the go to guy for any information on the surrounding attractions. He made sure we were always comfortable and made our stay there even more memorable. The local beaches are very secluded and peaceful. In-fact my beautiful wife and I were the only two people on Galjibagh(Turtle) Beach on the night of 1st Jan 2015 :) There are a few beach shacks with good food for various budgets. Nature-lovers must make a trip to the nearby wildlife sanctuary at Cotigao and also visit the "Cold Spring Tavern"(which is on the way to Tree-Top) for a scrumptious meal. Staying at the Rio de Talpona has been a very pleasant experience and is highly recommended.
If you prefer peace and quiet away from the bustle of the more popular beaches this is the place to stay. It is only 15 minutes from Patnem beach and 30 minutes from Agonda, on quiet back roads. Good cheap food is available from house restaurants on Talpona beach. The beaches are comepletely uncrowded, especially Galgibagh beach, which is protected as it is a turtle nesting site. The setting on the Talpona estuary is very panoramic, and Priyesh is a very gracious host. Book here to get away from it all,but still be in touch with popular South Goa.
My partner and I stayed in one of their cottages in the last week of December (Peak tourist season in Goa). Firstly, this is located in the more untouched and peaceful part of Goa for people looking for a calm, quiet spot to stay. It's not for you if you wanna go to Goa to party all night (For that you should head further north)! We got a basic cottage with a double bed, attached bathroom shower for a good price (Pls keep in mind that u can't expect 5-star luxury for this kind of price!) It's a quite, cute place amidst coconut trees, overlooking the river meeting the sea, and so one of the most breath-takingly beautiful places I have stayed at. Goa is always quite warm so if you need hot water to shower, you have to ask for it and they will heat it up and give it to you. Priyesh is the guy who owns and runs this place. He is really helpful and gives you good suggestions about the area as well. I think the idea here is to be on your own without any disturbance. Therefore you get a broom outside every room and you can clean the room yourself everyday (if needed). Or if you're the lazy kind then you can ask Priyesh to get it done and I'm sure he won't say no. They don't serve food, but just a couple of minutes away is the Talpona beach which is a clean, white-sand beach with hardly any people around so you get a sense of private undisturbed beach. There are (a few) small shacks that serve food and all. We even spent a whole day just in and out of water at this beach, sitting at the shack..from breakfast to dinner. The food was delicious and incredibly cheap. If you have basic requirements from accommodation with a modest budget and want to enjoy the peace and nature of Goa, then it couldn't get better than Rio de Talpona.
