The place has a private beach, the rooms are normal but the plunge room is just amazing, with a pool in the back yard with Jacuzzi in it the place is just beyond words.
The place can be for a Family visit, or a couple retreat, or just a chilled out outing, it wont disappoint.
We have travelled to many wonderful locations around the world, but the Staff at the Royal Orchid Beach resort in Utorda are by far the best, every request met with a smile and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was well maintained, with fresh towels and bed linen every day and one of our cleaners Abdul Razak always checked every detail of our room leaving fresh flowers on our bed as an extra touch, we stayed on a fully inclusive basis and the food was varied fresh and excellent. The waiting staff at the restaurant are top class! We would like to recognise the exceptional work done by the pool attendant, Shridhar, whose looked after us, he always checked that we were very comfortable at the poolside, he is a very professional young man and we feel his personality could be better suited to a front of house roll where he could display his people skills to their maximum. Talking of front of house, reception, our thanks for an excellent service to Fransquinha, Nilufei, Sunita and Espy,
we plan on a return visit one day, thank you all for making our stay so memorable!
Room with balcony, first floor. Clean, comfortable, bed and pillows very comfortable, plenty of clean white towels and toiletries provided. Room cleaning service good. Not 5*by European standards but asethically pleasing and comfortable nonetheless. Mainly used by Indian families/business visitors, only a few European visitors - good in some ways but on the hand quite noisy as I think English tend to be more reserved and quiet in these situations. The Indian visitors seem to go to bed quite late so quite a lot of banging doors, moving furniture etc, ok if youre folk who are also late to bed.
Staff all really lovely, very charming and gracious, Work very hard to keep the place running smoothly and guests happy. Wi-fi reasonably ok too and staff on hand to help if any difficulty logging on.
Food very good, mainly vegetarian with some fish and chicken. European type snacks available by pool for lunchtime if preferred. We were all inclusive but I think probably quite expensive if not. The Resturant is attractive but many nights they set up dining for outdoors which is lovely, grounds are well maintained and well planted. Some entertainment provided most nights with dinner.
Good beach close by and pool good size, well maintained with towels provided. Spa available but quite expensive - 40 approx for an hour massage. Taxis available right outside hotel, no Tut-Tuts though sadly! Most things to do in South Goa require a taxi (unless just having a chill out by pool holiday) but taxis are priced per car not passengers so if you can double up with other people going to same attraction it reduces price.
we were staying @ royal Orchid and the staff was very cooperative . we had gone for our neice's wedding . In the rush I left behind my shoes in the hotel .After coming back to Mumbai I realized that the shoes were left behind . I spoke to Royal Orchids Lost and Found Department and they Traced it immediately and arranged to couriered it to me .
Ms Jennifer from the Lost & Found Department was very Prompt in handling my query and arranging for the Courier . Thanks .
Royal Orchid is located exactly on the Utorda Beach in South Goa. It is about 5 kms from Madgaon Railway Station and 15 kms from Dabolim Airport. It is not a very big resort but has about 50-60 rooms.
The lobby/reception area though not that big but is well maintained. pool is situated just next to the lobby. The lobby also accommodates a small bar. The best part of this resort is the lush green lawns which gives a very nice feel when you go towards the beach.
The rooms had all the required amenities but the cleanliness can be improved. The only problem which i faced during my stay was regarding quality of curtains. Lot of sunlight passed through the curtains very early in the morning and we were forced to get up at 7.30 AM.
The food quality at the restaurant was awesome, breakfast and lunch buffet was well spread and the restaurant staff was also courteous.
The beach next to the hotel is not crowded. It has soft white sand which is very clean. I went to other beaches like Colva, Baga but enjoyed this beach the most.
On a whole I can say its value for money.
