This was our second time stay at the Sandalwood Hotel and Retreat and It was the same.... We loved it. This time we went with our cousins and his 2 kids. They loved the stay and we all decided to extend out stay by 2 days. So we stayed there for 5 nights. The hotel is a home away from home. lovely place - lovely hotel.
The hotel exceeded my expectations in every aspect, was value for money. I am a hotelier myself and i must say, i was a bit apprehensive about this hotel but as soon as we checked in all doubts had gone and i and my wife enjoyed our stay there. One must try out their spa and continental food on offer at the coffee shop. i will return and also recommend to my friends.
The hotel is very good, the staff is very helpful and the quality of the room is excellent, I would like to stay here again.
I liked everything in this hotel except the hotel room. The room was very much congested, i faced problem with hot and cold water for first 2 hours. The staff are very friendly and other facilities like restaurant, swimming pool, bar and open areas are well maintained.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Hotel staff very friendly and obliging. Food was very good and very reasonable with easy access to the beach. Felt like more of a 'locals hotel ' which was lovely rather than one where you could be anywhere in the world
Sandalwood Resort was for situated for me in the best part of Goa (short drive to tourist Hot Spots such as Calungute, Baga beach, Panjim, etc), quick access to good beach, good service, friendly staff, safe. The rooms that we were provided with (311,312 and 313 were clean, comfortable and two rooms had private balconies with good views. The rooms were a bit small and too old fashioned for my liking. Breakfast was average, very limited if you're not in the mood for Indian cuisine for breakfast. Pool is good, there are also a few other activities such as a snooker table (50 rupees for 15mins though), table tennis and some board games. Ice was charged for at a nominal rate as was the bottled water. Dinner was also quite limited, however decent. A good 3.5 star hotel I goes by the standards I have seen in India.
We paid quite a lot 95 per night for New Years. Its a nice apartment hotel with a good pool and pretty good waiter service. My family enjoyed the pool and spa. It is a 3 minute walk to nearby Vainguinim Beach through the grounds of the Cidade de Goa hotel. Nice beach with lovely sunsets. The breakfast buffet is nice and a la carte menu is OK. We ate a lot in the hotel as going anywhere else was not really an option. I used the gym but found all the equipment to be old and needs replacement in my opinion. My wife used the spa service which seemed good value (by world standards) The lack of metered taxis in Goa seems to be a big problem as we paid Rs700 to go to the Mall de Goa, Rs300 to Panjim and Rs1200 and 1000 for airport runs. You feel captive to the drivers charging whatever they like. The hotel offered a shuttle bus service and should offer a bigger shuttle bus service twice maybe to Panjim? Rooms were ok with good AC and hot water. Good cleaning service. All in all we had a relaxing time.
The property is average with reasonably decent facilities all round. Even has a spa we never got to use because it was closed, probably on the one day that they would be able to take it in. However, what is astounding is that we ended up paying more for taxis than our hotel room. The little taxi mafia outside the hotel is a complete rip off, and prices depend heavily on the shade of your skin!! With the hotel located at the bottom of the hill, in the middle of nowhere, there is no other option other than to use their taxi services!! Purely for this reason I would not stay at this property nor would I recommend it!!
We had a comfortable four night stay at the Sandalwood resort in Dona Paula, Goa. It has a great location being right there on the Vainguinim beach. The compact room was a bit small with a child, but the room was clean and comfortable. Bed linen was clean with a comfortable bed, a basic but clean bathroom and very good room service. Our view overlooking the resort lawn was pleasant. My two year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed the baby pool. The pools were cleaned thoroughly every day, so one need not worry about getting into unclean water. I only wish that they would provide WiFi access in the rooms, it is only accessible in and around the reception area.
