Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, with the friendly & courteous staff, beautiful view of the pool from the room. The resort is slightly out of the way, but taxis are always available. The best part was the walk from inside the resort to the beach, felt like our private paradise without any crowd, "far from the madding crowd."

I upgraded to suite as the ordinary rooms did not have bathtub. They should think of keeping television set with few more channels in the bedroom. The sitting room does not have A/C.

Good hotel and very friendly staff Good hotel and very friendly staff

by kmilne948 on February 22, 2017

We have stayed here many times over the years and recommend the hotel to anyone. For the last few visits we have chosen to stay in one of the villas as we have had 4-6people and this worked out best for us to all be together with these 3 bedroom properties. The villas do need a bit of investment to upgrade them but they are clean, comfortable and spacious. I know the rooms and suites are very good and more up-to-date. The staff are always welcoming and friendly especially Judas at the pool who always remembers us and always looks after guests so well. Private path directly to the beach and shacks.

Very Comfortable and close to the beach Very Comfortable and close to the beach

We were recommended the hotel by our travel agent as we were booking late having had to cancel a trip elsewhere. The travel agent was right, this is a very comfortable hotel. The rooms are spacious and bed comfortable. There is a large walk in shower in the bathroom, and a fridge and safe are provided. There has been some talk of the hotel being a little tired. I would not agree. The pool is well kept and very pleasant with comfortable sun loungers, though you may need to be early to get the best spots. I would recommend going B&B. The breakfast have plenty of options with fresh fruit, and a range of dishes to choose from, as well as a chef on hand to cook omelet and other egg options at your request. There are also a good range of decent restaurants within easy striking distance from the hotel, which i am sure you can research separately. (suggestions - Grills and Curries, Inferno, Harmony, The Mermaid). One of the best things offered is the proximity to the beach, walk out the bottom of the garden and it is 50 yards away. The beach is marvellous. Be a bit careful in the sea, there are life guards and they will sign to you if you go to far out. You come out next to Floyds shack, which we used regularly, but there are lots to choose from. The clientele are pretty varied, many of the rooms are booked a year in advance by people who have been returning each year for up to 25 years, so a poolside view may be hard to get, but is worthwhile. There are taxis outside the gate, and do barter with them - you can get to most places for 200 rupees and one did a return trip to Newtons store, waiting for its whilst we were in there, still for 200. The tuktuks are cheaper, but may be better for the return trip, unless you are happy to walk up to the main road to find one. I would recommend going to one of the markets at Maps, or the night market, to get your trinkets to take home. For us, this was an ideal hotel for an excellent holiday.

Well all I can say is this was our 16th visit to the Sonnesta and it still is the best around. The restaurant has excellent food at prices affordable to all. The staff are always polite and friendly and the GM Jose is very lucky to have such a team. Rooms are very clean and fresh and cleaned every day. The pool bar serves drinks at prices that match most other bars around. We cant wait to return in 2018. Thanks for another great holiday.

6th Visit 6th Visit

by HesterDundee_Angus on February 3, 2017

This January saw our sixth annual visit to Sonesta Inns in Candolim. Every year we say we really should try another area in south India, but after a couple of days back in our favourite rooms in the Sonest, we remember why we keep coming back. Our 2am arrival was expected and check in and transfer to our rooms was fast and efficient. The rooms are large and airy and many benefit from a beautiful pool view. Whilst the setting is perfect, it is the staff who add the final touch to the attracition of th Sonesta. Mr DeSouza, the manager, takes a personal interest in his guests and has a walk round the area every morning checking everything is as it should be. Jude and his partner run the pool area with a welcoming smile. There area number of restaurant managers who go out of their way to ensure everything is as you would wish. The reception staff are helpful and friendly. Even the gardening staff make you feel welcome. Once again the New Year celebrations were the piece de resistance with a beautiful buffet finished off with a carved ice dolphin and umbrellas used to create an unusual canopy. First class entertainment finished off such a lovely evening. Looking forward to our return in December 2017.
