We have been staying at the leela since 1992 since then it has been upgraded several times the lagoon suites are wonderful and the the grounds are buetiful shilina at breakfast is very helpful and friendly
The Leela Goa, Located miles away from the main city of Goa is a pristine hotel, which speaks luxury at it's best. I was residing here for 3 Nights and enjoyed every bit of my stay. Only one suggestion - Wireless Internet should be offered with compliments, The General Manager & the promoters should realize that this is a basic essence & the necessity it servces.
Else - Superb! Look forward to recommending & visiting again
Stayed 6 nights during the Christmas period in club room. The appointments of hotel our world class. Overall service was excellent. The room butler was very efficient. The dinner at le cirque the specially restaurant was a little let down the ordered wine arrived a little late and had to be changed which was done quickly. We were a group of eight in overall the experience was good. The hotel is highly recommended.
We arrived here as the final stop on our tour and the best was saved until last!
After two flights firstly from Jaipur into Mumbai and then Mumbai to Goa (delayed by 2 hours) we were warmly welcomed by the reception staff at the Leela.
We were greeted by a member of the reception team - Ovina, and checked in seamlessly.
Our room - overlooking the lagoon - was of a reasonable size with a good bathroom.
We finally unpacked, for our four night stay. We popped down to the pool and sat in the sunshine and relaxed....
We then decided to eat out for our evening meal at the Fishermans Wharf (TA reviews recommended)which was a short walk from the hotel (see separate review).
Breakfast - the largest buffet selection we have seen anywhere - huge choice and chefs to cook eggs etc to order, staff aplenty usually with smiling faces and ready to help.
Depending on the time one made it in to breakfast, determined whether you were able to eat outside, rather than in the busy restaurant. Two members of staff stood 'guard' with air rifles to scare off low flying birds.
We spent the rest of our days on the wide expanse of beach, on comfortable sun beds, with friendly beach staff, who looked after you with towels and a flag system, that was either do not disturb or we wanted service, excellent idea.
When walking along the shoreline, the local women would try and sell you trinkets, scarves etc or accompany you on a walk. Just be persistent in saying no and they will eventually leave you alone.
Each evening we walked back to our room, among the beautifully lit gardens - the gardens day or night were wonderful, the maintenance staff and gardeners do a fabulous job.
Each morning, before breakfast we would sit on our balcony overlooking the lagoon and bird watch. We actually took binoculars with us for the tiger safari but used them mostly here as the bird life was extraordinary - so many types, and such a large amount to see!
The hotel was not busy, so was particularly delightful, the clientele was a mix of Indian, Russian,Chinese, European, so an interesting mix.
We visited Mikes Beach shack for drinks and supper for the following evenings, again see separate review.
The hotel restaurants were very quiet but also very expensive, that is why we ate out every evening, maybe the management should review their pricing.
On our last day, we asked for a late check out, as we had requested this at booking, and was told we could have the room until 3pm, we were leaving the hotel at midnight for our flight home, so this wasn't ideal. We spoke with Ovina and asked if there was something she could do and she then came to us on the beach and said 4pm or we could pay half room rate and stay later. We weren't happy with that and about half an hour later Ovina came back and said we could have the room at no extra charge until 6pm. We were really pleased to have the room until then and thanked Ovina very much for her help.
The checkout was simple and friendly.
The driver came at midnight and drove us the 40 minutes to the airport.
This was a relaxing end to a busy touring holiday and we will recommend the Leela to everyone.
The hotel grounds are beautiful and rooms are luxurious. Packed agenda of things to do at the hotel and delicious food.
It's expensive hotel but enjoyable however I was extremely disappointed with leela's taxi service.
In Mumbai taxis would take you on a 20 minute journey for about 200 rupees but in the Leela it's daylight robbery. The "tourist taxi" they call for you charges 2200 rupees for a 20 minute journey. I complained to the reception and they said that the rates are set by the taxi driver however the taxi driver showed me a document stating "Leela Goa Taxi Rates" which are set by the Leela. I understand tourists are charged more but more than 10 times the price for a local felt like robbery but there weren't any alternatives available. The Leela need to sort this out and be more helpful to guests who need to travel in Goa. Disappointed with the Leela after this unfortunate checkout.
