Great people and nice rooms
by Cottonandsaira on
I reached really late and the staff were really helpful - they were really helpful all the way through my stay as it goes! Great people! The room was really nice, clean and comfortable with AC and hot water. Location is fantastic right by the beach. Food was great too and lovely breakfasts - definitely will be back!

We stayed 3 nights in the queen room sea view. The terrace was amazing: can enjoy gorgeous sunsets and sea breeze, very good for reading as almost all day in shadow. The room is basic and needs some maintenance. If you choose the queen rooms be aware about restaurant noise downstairs. The owner is very nice and helpful, the service a bit slow. Good wifi. To me the beach is one of the best in Goa, quiet and even in pick season not so many people.
Great service, good location, decent rooms, bad WiFi, average everything else

If not for the service, I would have given this place a rating of a 2 or 3. The staff here are immensely helpful and very attentive, and treat all nationalities with the same level of effort (very important after my experience at Dunes).
Vailankanni Cottage has an excellent location, just after the Creek in Mandrem, before the busyness of Arambol starts kicking off. I stayed in one of the bamboo huts, and I had a nice time.
- Excellent service
- Big room, decently constructed
- Large, firm mattress
- Great location on a good part of the beach
- Superb Ayurvedic massage (the masseur's name was Indra)
- The food is just completely blah, but it's okay because there are loads of eating options close by
- The WiFi rarely worked over the 3 days that I was here, and on the few occasions when it did, it was extremely slow and barely usable
- Needed a mosquito net in Feb - it wasn't the easiest to fit, and the light switches are very far from the bed, so it was tricky to set it all up and get in and out of bed through the net
- It's next to a place called "The Sunset" which screens moves and plays loud music, and so the huts are not very quiet
Would stay here again, but just wish that the food was better.
Also, a note for the management - one of the waiters in the restaurant didn't know what poi bread was. How can this happen in Goa!
Best View and Best People

I stayed here for a month and have never before experiences a staff as kind and welcoming as those at Vailankanni! The owner, Suresh is the most honest and friendly man and will take care of all the needs you have. The beach front AC room was very comfortable, clean and had all the amenities I needed. The 1minute walk to the ocean and sunset were beyond incredible. The staff here became like a family to me and I will definetly be back to stay next time I am in Goa!
Best Vegetarian Food!
by Sangya on
Yes, I know Goa isn't the best place food wise for vegetarians, but I happen to be one. I searched a LOT for a good place with veg options in Mandrem and it was pure luck that I chanced upon Vailankanni. After being disappointed at many places, it felt like heaven tasting the veg food here. I wasn't staying here but I walked everyday from my place of stay to Vailankanni only to eat here three times a day, for the full duration of my stay. My parents also loved the Puri-Bhaji, Stuffed parathas with fresh dahi and juices served here. The order takes time to come but once it reaches your table - you forget the delay. Good quantity, great quality, reasonably priced, sea-view seating - what not to love?
Big thanks to the chef there!
So, Vegetarians don't fret and come here for the best veg food in Mandrem!
