Old royalty!! Old royalty!!

by abhitrip82 on December 20, 2016

This is a heritage palace converted into a hotel. We visited this place on our way to Junagarh, more like a monument. Not very charming as this was not the main palace of the king, hence this is not as big as you would expect a palace to be. This is more like a huge haveli than a palace, wooden stairs, different sized room, old furniture but not from the same era!! Be prepared to remove your shoes before entering the palace!!

Huge room, faded splendor, cleanest chandelier in India, loved it Huge room, faded splendor, cleanest chandelier in India, loved it

Quite remarkable, all faded grandeur and Victorian kitsch...the staff are hugely hospitable and the rooms are without a doubt odd. Mine was vast with the longest walk to the bathroom I've ever encountered in an en-suite. I slept wonderfully well but this could have been due to the mozzie spray that I had the room blitzed with...Beware it is the riverside and the mozzies dance and prosper. Great position and grounds, food ok.

Charming Charming

This old palace in Gondal had much faded charm. The rooms vary in size, however, mine was large with a modern large bathroom. The furniture was from another era but the bed was comfortable. My room opened out onto a large first floor terrace that was accessible from the other bedroom at the back, on the first floor. The food was delicious, with plenty of variety and loads to eat. Exploring Gondal is easy as the market is only a short tuk tuk ride away.

Great Experience !!! Great Experience !!!

We had booked both the hotels Riverside Palace and the Orchard palace as we were traveling in a large group of about 30 friends in Vintage and classic cars in November 2015.we were expecting Gondal to be the high of our journey but it turned out a little disappointing, the rooms were great but a lacked freshness.service was a little slow and sloppythe food was excellent but was not made at the Hotel it came from else where and the breakfast for 20 of us staying was made by 1 person which took forever.some rooms were very small which were on the higher floors.Beautiful property can do better as they have all the resources and expertise our best wishes to the Maharaja Himanshu and his team.

Live like a prince. Live like a prince.

A heritage hotel from the late 19th century set in delightful gardens. The rooms are furnished with colonial antiques. The best appointed rooms are at the front (including the prince's) but these can be quite noisy. Although not as fancy the rooms at the back are much quieter and overlook the river. The only sound I heard was the early morning shriek of peacocks. Just delightful!
