A charming guest house with history & tradition. Owned by & old & distinguished family. Spotless without overbearing luxury. The staff are delightful. In all a haven on our trip from Arunachal to Manipur.
We chose this BB based on our inclination towards homestays and Tripadvisor reviews. This is a bright green independent house located right in the centre of bustling Uzaan bazaar. A beautiful little garden welcomes you as you enter. The Rooms are on the first floor and as you take the staircase and walk into the common area/drawing room you realize you have chosen a unique stay. The room is adorned with many precious artefacts collected by the owner over decades perhaps. The wooden furniture is classy, something that you dont get to see these days. Each room has a different decor with matching furniture and we were told it was all personally designed by the owner. Every room has a Double bed/Twin beds, Sitting area, a separate Dressing area, TV, AC and a bathroom with bath tub and hot water supply. You get to see an excellent collection of plants all around this property, I just fell in love with the beautiful garden setting. We had the privilege of a short conversation with the owner and got to know about the history of Baruah Bhawan. One major advantage of this place is they give you reference of a Pandit in Kamakhya temple whose services you can hire and pay as per your wish. Manager Mr.Sarkar was very prompt in booking our Alfresco cruise and informing the Kamakhya pandit about our visit. Caretaker Hari and his team are always on their toes to serve you. The Brahmaputra ghat for Umananda temple, State Museum, Planetarium are all at a walking distance and there are several eateries nearby. They also allow you to order food from these joints and have it home delivered. The property has a kitchen downstairs and you get freshly cooked home style hygienic food. Breakfast is included and lunch/dinner have to be informed 2 hours in advance. The only problem is a near by mosque and the prayers on loud speaker is a disturbance esp at 5 AM. Room #1 has the best decor and a huge bathroom, #1-#4 are bigger rooms. #5 and #6 are smaller rooms. #3 and #4 have the best privacy. For the amount you pay and the location, flexibility and services you get, this property is unmatched. Go with the right expectations and understand this is a heritage home and not a hotel - you will be elated. Suggestion to owner : Please paint the glass doors for rooms #3-#6 for better privacy.
We halted for a short stay at BB after our trip to Shillong. BB provided clean accomodation and home cooked food. The staff need special mention for their courteous behaviour - all the staff and particularly Team Leader Kalita addressed all our requests both promptly and satisfactorily. We will recommend BB and stay there again. - Partha S Bhattacharjee
We were a group of 7 Irish teachers ranging in age from 30's to 60's. We found this to be a very quiet, cool spot in the middle of busy, humid Guahaiti. It was spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated- our room had four poster beds and a large bathroom. The air conditioning was great and also nice to have wifi, although it was a little unreliable at times. The complimentary breakfast was beautiful-omelettte, parothas, dahl, orange juice/tea or else a continental breakfast. Great stay!
Located on the main road, close to Brahmaputra river, this Homestay is extremely well decorated with beautiful antics, awesome garden and everything well maintained. The service is really good and one gets a homely treatment from the staff who will cater to your need.
