I went to a family trip to kodaikanal. The climate is really awesome in the morning and afternoon, but very cold in the evening. you have to wear your slippers inside the room as it is too chilly. Rooms are awesome but the lobby is worst. Lots of beer bottles and Soiled plates out side each room and they take time to dispose it. Take a room in 2nd floor or higher. Wifi is available. Food in the restaurant are good and acceptable.

We had been to Kodaikanal for trecking. Stayed with friends in dormitory hall. Hotel is located mid of the city. Very effort able rates are there. We enquired about family rooms for future stay. And checked family stay rooms. Seems to be good. But only thing bad I felt was the Water. Water is in brownish colour and not seems to be good. Maintenance of the garden is good. Inside hotel, there is one tourism board counter for site seeing packages. It is better to get packages from. If you go for outside people, there is a chance of cheating.

Family Trip - Pros and Cons Family Trip - Pros and Cons

by Ganesh B on September 13, 2016

Stayed in this hotel during the weekend for a couple of days with family and friends. It is located near the main road and all tourist destinations are just a couple of kilometres away. We booked 4 Deluxe double rooms and 2 Cottage. Let me list the pros and cons below, PROS ------- 1) Has ample space to park vehicles with 24*7 security at gate. 2) Can sit in the gardens or can even go for walk within its premises in the early hours or if the activities of the day end early. 3) Usually tourist start the sight seeing from Coaker's Walk and it is just 3-4kms from the hotel. 4) Rooms are clean, hot water is available for bath and hot drinking water is also provided in flask. 5)Every room has balcony (Deluxe Rooms in the left side has good view). 6) Complimentary breakfast is available and its unlimited, unlike oyo rooms. Cons ------- 1) Dinner in the restaurant closes at 9.30PM. They are least worried about your delay to restaurant. So if you are late you need to walk 2km to reach nearest restaurant. I suggest to have food in the restaurant next to Raahat Inn and Albaiq. Forgot the restaurant name, but the food is tasty and is available till 12PM. 2) Complimentary breakfast doesn't include children above 5 years. You need to pay Rs.75 separately. 3) Suite rooms and Cottage rooms are not near the gate where security is available. In fact deluxe rooms look safer than cottages. 4) No 24 hour check in/check out....10 to 10 is their day...

Pluses and minuses... Pluses and minuses...

We stayed for two days at TTDC Kodai during lean season (August). Booked double deluxe room for 3 adults, out of which 2 got complimentary breakfast. For the third person, we had to pay. Food was tasty. Room was clean, overlooking a beautiful garden, hot water throughout day and night, the old manager at the reception very helpful. Free wifi too (though they have written available only in reception and restaurant, we got it inside our room on 1st floor). Travel Desk had a guide on Sunday, patiently answered all questions. Lake around a kilometer from the hotel, so is town. Not satisfied with the restaurant though. We ordered non veg soup Saturday night at the restaurant, our waiter told not available. When we heard the family next to us ordering the same to another waiter and their orders being taken, we asked again, so their waiter went inside and checked with the cook and told it's available but gosh, the person sitting at the billing counter overheard it, suddenly got angry and in a very rude manner turned down the request! Shouted from there to the waiter not to take orders for soup. Really at a loss to understand why he objected when the chef from inside kitchen had nodded a "yes." Thereafter except for breakfast, we didn't take any food from there. We are regular customers of TTDC, everywhere it has been a pleasant stay, but this strange behavior jolted us a bit. There is a tea shop right in front of the main gate, take your morning black coffee from there, Rs. 10 only, whereas the one from TTDC is charged at Rs. 20.

Review of the restaurant only Review of the restaurant only

by sasikiran on August 18, 2016

I have not stayed in the hotel but visited the restaurant. The outside look of the hotel is good, a large open area and garden is there, but room do not seem to be great. I was staying just opposite to the hotel, it was raining and hence had to jump into this place for lunch. There was a buffet lunch meal. We opted for that. The service was pathetic, they threw it like was jail. Taste was average, few items were OK, few above average but none were great. There were flies all around, no fans and it was irritating to have food there. Since we were hungry, we still continued to eat and came out soon.
