Wonderful faded glory Wonderful faded glory

by mikefrance1 on January 22, 2017

This must have been a magnificent house in its heyday. It retains its charm in a faded glory kind of way and I would choose it above many many high end hotels. And very reasonably priced at 110 inclusive of breakfast and all taxes in high season.

A heritage hotel it is, but regal and luxurious it is not A heritage hotel it is, but regal and luxurious it is not

It's definitely worthwhile staying in a haveli as the architecture and ambiance is unique to India. Alsisar is no different. Check-in is quick in a small reception room. Staff are efficient but make no effort to be warm and welcoming which is what one would expect in a haveli Although rooms are described as regal, regal they are not. There is insufficient storage for clothes. Electrical sockets are badly located. Bathroom is basic. And is it regal to have hot water at designated times only? The size of the TV set is laughable. Some computer monitors are larger! The description on the haveli website that it is equipped with the latest amenities is a misrepresentation The Dining Room is beautiful in design. But although there is an a la carte menu, closer study shows that each item is from the buffet! And the price of the dinner buffet is not cheap. Yet the quality and range is distinctly poor. Service is friendly but far from regal. Breakfast is 3 star at best The shop offering Indian curios is stocked with a wide range of attractive products and worth the visit. Perhaps the highlight of this 'heritage hotel' is Stella the dog, who shows more warmth than any of the hotel staff. Housekeeping staff are dressed like military cadets and go about their work in a dour fashion with faces only lighting up if a tip is likely to pop up Yes this is a haveli, but no, it's far from being luxurious.

A beautiful break.. A beautiful break..

by CassandraK78 on January 14, 2017

This was an oasis in the middle of the Jaipur madness. We were so relieved when we walked in to see the beautiful gardens and somehow reasonably peaceful atmosphere given the hectic world going on outside. The staff were helpful and friendly. Special mention goes to the guy on reception who moved us to a new room when we requested and to the dining staff. The dining staff were friendly, helpful and made dinner an enjoyable experience. Food in restauraunt was amazing. We were initially put off by the idea of a buffet, but this buffet was outstanding and would have loved to eat food that quality every night of our trip through India. For those not too adventurous with the local food This is my 4th trip to India and have always chosen to be a temporary vegetarian. I also have a couple of health issues that make me wary of suspect food. I ate a number of different dishes including meat in this restaurant and had no issues at all. In fact I loved it! Give the sandwiches and chips a miss and try some local food! The guys doing the puppet show each night were lovely and the show is worth giving a few minutes of your time for. Would stay here again and recommend it, though it is important for people to note that with the cost and style of the hotel, you will not get your gritty backpacker traveler experience. If thats what you prefer, I suggest elsewhere. If you do want a relaxing, clean and friendly environment where you can take a time out after walking amongst the craziness of Jaipur, I highly recommend. We had a driver for the duration of our stay so didnt have to negotiate getting anywhere, so I cant comment on the location. I have seen reviews and complaints about about street noise. I am particularly fussy when it comes to noisy places and whilst I admit there was noise from the street, I personally didn't struggle with it or find it impacted on my stay- though the fireworks one night initially gave me a fright. Wi fi was available in the rooms at no extra charge. Room tip we originally were given a double deluxe room on the ground floor with a door opening out onto the courtyard where guests would gather drink and eat. We were moved to a rooftop room after requesting somewhere that may be a little more quiet. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the quality of the original room inside we just preferred a rooftop room to be away from the immediate entertainment of the courtyard. This involved a lot of stairs, which you would expect from a Haveli but definitely well worth it.

Totally charming haveli! Totally charming haveli!

Our family of 5 spent 10 days in Rajasthan over Christmas & New years - & Jaipur was ofcourse on the cards. The city lived up to its reputation for culture & heritage at every glance. We stayed in Alsisar Haveli while there & it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Great rooms, superb service & great breakfasts! And plenty of space & quiet right in the middle of the city! Definitely a jewel! And a special thankyou for the haveli owner for personal graciousness. That was the cherry on the cake. :)

Stunning but soul-less Stunning but soul-less

Alsisar is a stunning property. A beautiful and huge Haveli, it comes with a beautiful restaurant, puppet shows in the evening, and a remarkable little store (Tokri) on the premises. But Arsisal lacks soul. It is the only hotel in my 2 week trip of Rajasthan where people didn't smile or make an attempt to be warm. The hotel staff exudes a certain disenchanted coldness that I did not take to. The restaurant staff, I must add, was friendly enough.Additionally, hot water is available during certain times of the day only. So you better get your ablutions in on time. In summary, Arsisal was like a beautiful creature with no soul - too impersonal for me to like

Demo Trip Rooms on the ground floor next to pool, are best avoided. Early mornings are loud when staff begin work.

by Manj02 on January 3, 2017

Demo Trip Ask for a room of the upper floors for absolute tranquillity away from the pool and dining areas.

by jlo2017 on January 3, 2017

Demo Trip Stay on a lower floor to avoid street noise.

by lj202 on December 28, 2016

Demo Trip If you budget allows, go for suite rooms. They are in front and allow easy access to the pool, restaurant and the entrance.
