Living in a new and foreign country for a few months can be very difficult. It is especially difficult when the countries culture is so different from what you are used to. I must say though, living at Colonel's Homestead has been such a wonderful experience. I was made to feel completely at home by its owners, Vijaya and Rajesh. They treated my like family and I even referred to them as my adoptive parents. The staff were also super lovely and I know I will miss my stay when I go back home to Australia. Would 110% recommend this place to all travellers whether they be staying 2 nights or 2 months.
I stayed here for seven weeks during the low-tourist-season and had a great time. The host family was very friendly and helpful and I learned plenty about the area. The food was good. Breakfast was different every day, always delicious. The room was clean, staff was dedicated and friendly, everything worked: AC, wifi, hot water. I like to walk, and this neighborhood is upscale and has some nice areas for walking. I also would sometimes take an Uber taxi to the Jaipur commercial center for about 80 Rupees for shopping and lunch. Highly recommended.
We had planned to stay one night in Jaipur to meet with an old friend. We checked the hotels in and around Vaishali Nagar (where he was living) and came across this hotel using online reviews.
Our booking (1 double, 1 Single) was confirmed on e-mail, when we reached the hotel I pressed the door bell at the gate. Nobody responded for a long time, hence tried to call the phone number provided to us in the email. No one answered the phone the first time and then the phone was switched off (so much for customer orientation).
After some time a person opened the gate, but had no knowledge of our booking, he tried to call some one to check. Since it was taking a long time we started hunting for hotels near by when they suddenly decided that our booking exists.
After all this we found the rooms were good, but the air conditioners were undersized for the size of the room. The hotel is a nice quaint one.
The main problem is customer orientation, the some of the people working come across as indifferent to customer service. In the middle of the night power tripped for well over an hour, I had to go down wake up someone who then did something to get power restarted.
I do not normally write only bad reviews, but experience here has forced me to do so.
We, a group of 3 adults and a 4-year old, were out on our 5-day trip to Jaipur. We chose to stay at Colonel's Homestead, and it turned out to be the best decision we could make about our stay arrangements! The hosts are wonderful people, lively and generous. We were absolutely charmed by their hospitality each time we sat around the dining table together. They had so much to share! Colonel, and his stories from Army days. His wife, and her interesting narrative of her royal Rajputana lineage. And they being ardent travelers themselves!!! We got all the smart tips and necessary help that one could have asked for to explore the Pink City. Staying with them completed the Jaipur experience! Rooms are nicely done, staff is courteous. All in all, it is as homely as a stylish home :) Promise to visit you guys again!
This was our third time stay in the bungalow. We had made last minute bookings to stay in Jaipur and we got a good deal by booking it through cleartrip.
Despite last minute bookings our hosts accommodated and also warmly greeted us with hot tea and warm conversations.
This place is great in terms of location. Firstly it is 5 - 10 minutes from the highway and hence one need not come from inside the main city and get stuck in traffic. Secondly this place has many eating options which are within walking distance . There is KFC , Dominos , Vaango , Pizza hut and many other street food options. Thirdly while this place has market area close to it , it has maintained its calmness and serenity. The sleep at night is great
This place is also lush green with beautiful flowers in full bloom all over - Behind the bungalow as well there is a lot of greenery. I always spot peacocks around without even trying to find one.
The breakfast here is great. We were served nice hot breakfast of veg omelette , toasts , fruit and french fries and hot tea / coffee.
The rooms are basic and washrooms are clean. Everything is great and complete value for money.
However , there was one thing which was quiet uncomfortable - it was the bed which was in a not - so- good shape and was really old. Also , the bed sheet while clean , looked really old and faded.
Overall this place has a good location and is value for money. The hosts are very warm and friendly.
