Lovely Guest House with Friendly, Welcoming Owners Lovely Guest House with Friendly, Welcoming Owners

by Jedi_soo on November 4, 2016

I absolutely couldn't fault this place. It was an island of calm amid the chaos of Jaipur. The family were all so accommodating, and the rooms were spotlessly clean with everything needed for a comfortable stay including free WiFi throughout and lovely grounds to sit and relax in. If I ever return to Jaipur, then I won't hesitate the stay here again.

The property has historical significance ans the family that run it will make you feel special as they share their family story. Great location and the cooking demonstration give you a chance to eat locals food. The dog Jamie is a treat also.

A Saint in the face of adversity A Saint in the face of adversity

We visited Nokha House as part of a 12 day tour of the golden triangle. We were staying elsewhere but were booked in for a cooking demonstration and meal with the family. We were met by Rana, who was delightful, and she explained that her mother in law had been taken ill and so her husband had had to leave to take care of her. She had her son with her and the two of them did their best to host the evening for us. I say did their best, as unfortunately we had been joined by another couple and whilst the gentleman was truly lovely, the woman was the most insufferable person either of us had ever had the displeasure of meeting. Rana tried her best to give us information and to make conversation with us all, but this monstrous woman didn't give her a chance. She spent the entire evening talking over her, not allowing anyone else to speak, and even tried to tell her how to cook the Dahl and Pakoras! She even had the audacity to ask her, in front of her son, if her mother in law had ever beaten her! Or if she had ever set her sari on fire! And she told the son that it didn't matter that he was fat, so long as he was happy! The entire time, Rana remained polite and tried her best to answer this vacant, overbearing twits barrage of inane and downright rude questions. We would have loved to have learnt more from her about the style of food and some popular Rajasthani dishes but, failing having neither a cattle prod nor a muzzle we were unable to get a word in edge ways. After dinner Rana and her son were happy to show us around part of their home and some of their family photographs. Luckily, Jawache already knew everything about everything so she was able to take over the conversation and tell us everything we'd never wanted to know, and yet, Rana remained the perfect host. We were so grateful to spend the time with her and her son in their family home, and also sample her delicious cooking. She was gracious, tolerant and utterly professional. I would of loved to hear what she thought afterwards though! Please visit Nokha house, it's well worth it.

We only stopped at Nokha House for lunch with our tour guide, but were delighted with the quality and freshness of the food. The owners were very welcoming. The house is clean and unpretentious, but we cannot comment on the accommodation.

Demo Trip During winter: Inside the house and not on the (4 lane) roadside. Not in the kitchen area where they put me after i complained about noise and cold of sleeping in the outside room

Demo Trip Location was not a issue, because we had a private car. This facility does not have a swimming pool or fitness center ( not possible to 'unclick' selection)
