Pritesh from Jaisalmer, India recommends this hotel Posted:  Room Quality: 3/5 Service Quality: 1/5 Dining Quality: 1/5 Cleanliness: 2/5

I think my rating sums it all up. Very disappointed with the services. I was happy when I reached there and was promptly upgraded to a so called super deluxe Tent. Well I still don't understand why they call it super deluxe. Starting from the basics. In my itinerary it was mentioned we are entitled to Breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner. Now of course they don't say that it would be same food everyday so they are not really expecting you to stay for more than one day and their definition of afternoon tea, well I still don't understand. We arrived there around 1.00PM and was expecting some afternoon tea in next hour-2-3 or something but obviously NOT. we were told that afternoon tea is served after the camel safari which was supposed to be at 4.00PM, it started at 5:00. We were back in tents by 6.30 or so, still no sign on afternoon tea. At 7.30 we were given smallest possible cup of tea and a small plate of POHA(sort of fried rice flakes). That was it for afternoon tea and snacks at 7.30 PM. Now they mentioned the bon fire and music program. Supposed to start at 7.00pm and it did but there was no bon fire. When I inquired they told us that the guy who brings the diesel for the camp didn't come that day so no bon fire. My guess was there were few people so they didn't bother. Next day in morning we got breakfast, can u guess what??? it was poori and aloo and tats all for breakfast. You don't expect that for a 3* facility. But well thats all and this was 9.00 in morning and now u guessed it right afternoon tea was not to be served till 7.30PM. They don't have a restaurant and there is no restaurant anywhere nearby. My friend and I went all the way to jaisalmer to have a decent meal. Don't forget Jaisalmer is 45kms from the camp. Well I can go on writing but I think you got the idea. I was very disappointed with The Oasis Company.

Memorial Jaisalmer Memorial Jaisalmer

by Tourwithpuja on November 16, 2016

I went on a trip to jaisalmer with my office colleagues in a sleeper class AC bus. We started our journey from Narnapura,Ahmedabad. We catched SG highway via gandhinagar- Radhanpur-barmer route. I know the places bcuz we halted fr 5 mins for refreshment. We already booked a hotel at nearby the golden fort. First we visited the jaisalmer museum then went to soner quilla with the 6 seater auto which took inside right in the quilla, places we saw are Nathmalji ki haveli-Jain temples-fort palace museum-Maharaja palace-Chandraprabhu temple-Patwaon ki haveli-Shantinath temple-Surya gate-Shopping galli-Dussera chowk along way.I didnt buyed nything though m a shopping freak coz nothing speciall i found their to buy.Except Dhoti style pyjamas & pagri. The hygiene is vry much bad inside the fort. As families do reside there & there is no security personnel at all.Odour of gutter water waves around the fort. Quite no. of foreigners are present inside the fort. I wud advise 2 bottles with snack a person shld carry before entering the fort as there is no such facility present & u need to walk a lot. In the evening we went wth in our bus to gadi sagar lake it ws nice & serene place we sat there fr half hr. Then we went to village Sam, we stayed in the Oasis camp ( Sam Sand Dunes). A slim & young girl in traditional wear wth quite heavy makeup welcomed us wth foolmala & tika. We left our luggage in the tents i dont know the price per night cz it ws booked by the boss hence we people didnt showed much interest to know d price as it ws totally free trip fr us. The tent ws nice inside wth doubl bed a washroom wth english toilet a bulb in it. During my stay a shot circuit took place in the neighboring tent & the cloth of the tent slightly burned but d supervisor came on time & corrected d mal function. It scared us all really. but we luk forward fr to go to the thar desert wth jeep to see the dunes it ws nice experience d jeep wala bhaiya played some local raj. song it ws sounding quite chaep bt i didnt mind hehe. After returing we went to the the program which ws going on at center ground 2 gals dancing 2-3 boys singing wth tabla dholak manjira. We sat on the gaddas (roll bed) kept around the cricular ground. They served teas & bhajias & they were tasty too.The gals were quite beautiful & some guys among d public got high wth drink & started whistleing. But i guess those dancing gals also liked it. Some guys were spreading money also on them. We took out cook so we didnt ate the food of the camp. On the next day we went on camel ride he took us on some holl top where we saw the sun rise it ws fascinating & really beautiful & vry cold temp. so i advice one should take jackets & hand gloves too. Again the price i dont know cz it ws given in sum by our boss. The camel boy asked me fr tip too. I gave 50 Rs. He also asked benji 300 Rs. do pakistan ka border dur se ghuma ke aate hain. Bt i ws scared so i denied. Next day we checked out the camp & went to city fr shoppingmy friends buyed camel skin bags, hats, purse, wrist band bt again i didnt buyed as cz it ws smelling vry bad. bt the color of the leather ws redbrown something. I just buyed ghotua laddo half kg. Then in the eveing we departed in our bus towards ahmedabad. Overall it was memorable & nice experience.

Place was awesome, Sunset point was awesome just 200 mtrs, just in front of our eyes. extra ordinary part was colonels border tour. he is the man of desert. Oasis India Camps. Official Oasis camp run by colonel mahendar singh. There are various other camps too, who say they are the official one. But one i stayed was an official one. While going to camps in jaisalmer, beware of touts too. I searched camps in jaislamer, i got a result of camp oasis, did some research and found out colonel. then booked online from their website. and here i go..

Bad experience Bad experience

What they commit they dont fullfill... We all friends had a booking in Oasis and when we reached their our tent was shifted to another resort(bad tent ever) 10 kM away from Oasis ... Just because they got more money from other NRI's for tent... And almost due to vacation all tents were booked .... So without our knowledge they played a game behind us and anyhow we argued ...!!

An evening nicely spent- thanks to the ever helpful staff! An evening nicely spent- thanks to the ever helpful staff!

At the very end of the chain of deserts camps situated all along the Jaisalmer - Sam road, this camp offers just what all the others would have. However we had a surprise awaiting us as we got an upgrade to A/C cottage at the price of non- A/C ones. We were arranged a nice camel and jeep safari (at reasonable rates) during the sunset, followed by a nice cultural program in the evening culminating with an average Rajasthani dinner (one thing which I feel could be improved). The owners were really helpful and after I got my thumb hurt during camel riding, guided me to the govt clinic and enquired many a times to check if we were comfortable. Also arranged lukewarm water to dip my thumb into, which was really helpful. I would recommend this place for not just the facilities on offer but to be served by the very helpful staff.

All camps are same.. All camps are same..

In sam sand dunes, there are lots of camps. You can book any of them because all are same. You will get a room with attached washroom. Overall there would be many groups in camp. In night, there were some musical and folk dance groups. Good experience with Oasis camp
