From cleanliness, room size , location, ample parking, wifi to the exceptionally tasty food. It has got roof top vegetarian restaurant and serves the best food I had on my rajasthan trip in last 10 days.
Situated at the center of the city, "patwoan ki haveli" is just walking distance and "ghdisar lake" is alos near. we did early check in here, host was friendly and very helping. rooms were clean and completely rajhasthani interior, so many options for breakfast, good hospitality and nice roof top restro.
We booked a different hotel "Star haveli" via Trip advisor, but THANK GOD we called the booked one to confirm our reservation (already paid full amount online) and they refused they don't have any rooms and will not allow us to stay (Obviously 31st night they can sell they rooms at 5star hotel price rate). I haven't received any refund yet. Anyways that's a different story.
About The Golden Hosue:
This is one the best experience I had while traveling to a lot of places in India. The hotel is not that far from Jaisalmer fort and Patwon ki Haveli. You can take a walk in the narrow streets and reach Patwon ki Haveli in about 10-15 minutes or can take an auto (Approx same time).
We stayed here on 31st of December. The rooms were clean, spacious, with traditional decorations. The bathroom was very spacious and modern styled. Mr. Mukesh (owner - Great Man) helped us with our New Year celebration plan on a very reasonable price(Jeep Safari, Camel Safari, Camping with the cultural program, DJ party etc). On the 31st night, almost all the camps were pre-booked or were charging nonrealistic prices. Mr. Mukesh Helped us to book a Camp (prince) with regular entry fee. The Camping experience was awesome and the Cultural program was Super awesome.
After returning to our Hotel at late night, while chitchatting with Mr. Mukesh, he shared some amazing stories about the place, the border, the famous laddu(His Uncle is a famous Halvai in the village Gadra situated 2 KM behind the border line. The village is infamous for the Laddus), life-long experience, etc.
Now the food:
The food at The Golden House was tasty and I would suggest trying the Ker Sangri from the food menu. The complimentary breakfast was fresh, warmed and tasty (Try the hot Tea). We were in a hurry in the morning because we had to leave for Longewala and on request, they even prepared and serve the breakfast early.
The Overall experience was super amazing and I highly recommend this Hotel.
Hotel Reviews, here you go :
1. Food is good and Fresh
2. Hotel Staff is friendly
3. Clean Rooms and Hotel
4. Manager/Owner at the reception is nice and humble
1. Location of Hotel is not so pleasing
2. Since there are less people in Hotel , so owner saving money and dont even switch on the lobby lights.
- Rooms were clean
- Food was reasonable and tasty.
-No hanger/ cupboard in the room. Literally nothing to hang towels/ clothes.
-Toileteries were very normal which doesn't match to the expectation level.
-Restaurant had no guests except for us and was not well equipped, so a big no to the restaurant.
- No lift for which the owner said it's a house rennovated to a hotel.
- We were not given the room which we wanted inspite of no guests.
- When we asked for fresh up after checking out and before our train, they gave us a room which someone had already occupied and they went for sight seeing. We refused but the owner told us, no problem, we can use it. The room had expensive thing like macbook. So I am not sure if he does the same with everyone. A simple washroom would have been sufficient for us.
- Internet was slow.
I don't know why this is rated so much in trip advisor, but please think before you book this hotel. There are many options which are better than this for the same price. And I suggest to book something inside the fort as jaisalmer is in the fort.
