I'm a published travel writer and I rarely write reviews for public websites. But I have to make an exception for Garh Jaisal. It's perfectly situated and beautiful (each room sumptuously decorated in a different color, fantastic views from the rooms and the excellent rooftop restaurant). Often in India you have to choose between ancient charm and modern efficiency, but there were no compromises on wifi, hot water, or anything else. And the service is fantastic. Host Tarun helped my friend and me buy our railroad tickets before our visit, at a time when the railway website was hopelessly jammed in the US. I arrived at the hotel with a new hole in my leather jacket; one of the staff took it down the street and had it repaired within a half hour. The day we left they arranged for us to hang out for a nominal fee at a neighboring hotel after checkout and before our train. And they packed a dinner for us to eat on board. All hotels should be run with such graciousness.
